Okayama Castle is a castle located in Okayama City, Okayama Prefecture, Japan. In the Edo period, it was the seat of the Okayama Domain Hall, also known as Wucheng or Golden Wucheng. It is a designated historical site in Japan. The lord of the Okayama domain, Ikeda Netsuke, appointed Tsuda Nagatada as the acting official of Okayama County (the acting official of the domain lord). The construction began in 4 years, lasted 14 years, and was completed in the 13th year of Genroku. Okayama Castle consists of several small hills more than ten meters above sea level. The Honmaru is located in the area of "Okayama". The west of the city is "Stone Mountain", and the north of the city is "Tenjin Mountain". Korakuen was built in 1700. It is a pond and spring garden that took 14 years to build by Tsunamasa Ikeda, the lord of the Okayama domain. Together with Kairakuen in Mito and Kenrokuen in Kanazawa, they are called the three major gardens in Japan. As a traditional Japanese imperial garden, it has the scenery of small bridges and flowing water, and many plants and flowers are planted, which is very beautiful.Okayama City · 14.3km from Setouchi

Located in the northeastern part of Japan's Seto Inland Sea, Shodoshima is under the jurisdiction of Kagawa Prefecture and is the second largest island in the Seto Inland Sea. This diamond-shaped island is famous for its olive cultivation, traditional soy sauce brewing and unique landforms. It is connected to major ports such as Takamatsu Port and Kobe Port by regular ferries. Regularly operated island sightseeing buses connect major attractions. The island is full of olive groves, with white flowers all over the mountains in spring and fruits in autumn. The Greek windmills and Mediterranean plants in the garden form a unique landscape. The natural wonder "Kanxia Gorge" is one of the three most beautiful valleys in Japan. Take a cable car to enjoy the panoramic view of the canyon with columnar jointed rock walls and maple leaves. The hiking trail runs through the original oak forest. The "Angel Road" sandbar shaped by the tide appears twice a day at low tide, and the sea trail connecting Nakayo Island and the main island has become a romantic check-in spot. The white-walled buildings of Tonosho Town in the west of the island retain the style of the Edo period merchant town, and soy sauce warehouses converted into cafes are distributed on both sides of the stone road. Art lovers can also visit the Setouchi Triennale exhibits. Cycling around the island is a popular experience, passing by the Senmaida terraced rice fields, olive cattle ranch and other landscapes along the coastline.Shodoshima · 26.3km from Setouchi

The Kurashiki Bikan area is located on the banks of the Kurashiki River and covers an area of about 13.5 hectares. It is one of the only ancient towns in Japan. Similar to the domestic Wuzhen and Xitang, but the architectural style is inconsistent. There are many mansions of businessmen at that time and modern buildings such as the Ohara Art Museum and many museums that were built later.Kurashiki · 30.4km from Setouchi

Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan

4.1k reviews
Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan is a large aquarium themed around the Pacific Ocean, with a visiting route designed as a journey "from land to the ocean depths": visitors first pass through the tunnel-shaped "Aqua Gate" tank, watching tropical fish swim overhead; then take a long escalator directly to the top floor, starting from the "Japanese forest" tank bathed in sunlight, where stream creatures can be found amid waterfall sounds and lush greenery; then descend floor by floor along a spiral ramp, circling the central "Pacific Ocean" tank and passing through exhibits of the Tasman Sea, Great Barrier Reef, Japan Trench and other marine areas. The same tank reappears at different floors, offering distinct perspectives from above, at eye level and below—the entire walk feels like diving around the Pacific. The aquarium houses over 600 species and tens of thousands of marine creatures. Its centerpiece is the "Pacific Ocean" tank, approx. nine meters deep with over 5,000 tons of water, where iconic whale sharks glide gracefully alongside large rays flapping their "wings" and swirling schools of silver fish. The "Tasman Sea" tank showcases agile spotted dolphins with dynamic swimming postures. The "Arctic Circle" exhibit recreates both ice surface and subglacial seawater across two levels, with ringed seals darting near the ice edges. In the dimly lit "Moon Jelly Galaxy," pulsating jellyfish resemble floating star clusters, making it a popular photo spot. Plan at least half a day for your visit, as crowds mainly gather around the central large tank. When walking down the ramp, pay attention to the medium and small tanks on both sides - exhibits like penguins and sea lions are scattered along the route and can be easily missed if hurried. The aquarium also features a touch pool where you can feel the skin of sharks and rays, a particularly worthwhile experience for families with children. △ [Gate of water] is like a transparent underwater tunnel, unveiling a blue world before you. △ [Tasman Sea] The white-sided dolphins are swimming dynamically in this pool. △ [Pacific Ocean] This aquarium is home to many creatures, including confidently swimming whale sharks and gracefully flapping manta rays.Japan · Osaka

Okayama Castle is located in Okayama Prefecture. It is also called Kuro Castle because the wall panels of the castle tower are painted black. It is also called Jinku Castle because of the golden roof and the golden animal head tiles on the top of the watchtower. From the Warring States Period to the Meiji Restoration, it was successively owned by the Ukita family, the Kobayakawa family, and the Ikeda family. The castle tower, the Tsukimi Turret, the Nishite Turret, and the Ishiyama Gate, which were built in the Momoyama style, have all been rated as national treasures of Japan. Okayama Castle is a five-story, six-story building and is one of the oldest castles in Japan.

It is a very old park. The trees inside seem to be very old. When it is hot in summer, the place is filled with the sound of cicadas. There are rice fields and tea gardens. It should be even more beautiful in spring. After going out from the side door and walking across a bridge, Okayama Castle is on the other side of the river.

Hidden within this room lies the charm of nature. Pushing open the door, verdant greenery greets you first. Leaning against the window, the murmuring of a spring fills the air, while mist and haze drift into the room along the window sill. Each season presents its own unique beauty here: spring brings forth new bamboo shoots, summer offers lush shade, autumn fills the courtyard with the fragrance of osmanthus, and winter sees snow tapping against the window. Every detail in the room reflects thoughtful consideration: the mattress's firmness perfectly supports a tired back, the toiletries have a pleasant, non-irritating scent, and a warm, yellow light awaits you at the door when you return late at night. This is not just a temporary resting place, but a sanctuary for the soul. After a few days, even the most tense nerves gradually relax, allowing you to rediscover your most relaxed state.

I visited Kurashiki last Sunday and absolutely loved it! The town perfectly blends Edo-period charm with modern cafes. The atmosphere is lively yet incredibly relaxing. I highly recommend using this pass! It is incredibly worth it. You can redeem it for activities like the traditional canal boat ride, museum entries, or local snacks. It saves a lot of money and is super convenient.

Huge aquarium with helpful staff and is easy to navigate. The ticket prices were fair, and the array of creatures featured here was diverse; the whale sharks stole the show. The aquarium does get quite crowded around weekends and the holidays, so definitely plan in advance. This place should take about 2-3 hours to walk through. Overall the scenery was beautiful and the area it’s in is excellent for food and walking around.
