National Mosque of Malaysia

4.7/5
1.1k reviews
National Mosque of Malaysia is located right next to the old Kuala Lumpur Railway Station and is situated in the green space beside the Lake Gardens. It was completed in 1965. "Negara" means "national" in Malay, and the name commemorates the new nation's peaceful path to independence. Unlike common mosques with onion-shaped domes, it follows a clean and crisp modernist style, using concrete and marble to create a sense of open space, making it stand out among the city's many old Moorish-style buildings. The main dome of the prayer hall is particularly worth seeing: the 16-pointed star-shaped concrete roof resembles a giant open umbrella, radiating outward from the center. Beside it stands a minaret approx. 73 m high, with a top that looks like a closed umbrella, often described by visitors as resembling a rocket. The entire complex can accommodate over 10,000 worshippers at once. After major renovations in the 1980s, the roof was tiled with blue and green tiles, which pair neatly with the white columns.Kuala Lumpur · 20.7km from Shah Alam

Skyline Luge Kuala Lumpur

Skyline Luge Kuala Lumpur is a gravity cart amusement park in the suburbs of Kuala Lumpur, featuring the gravity cart experience originating from New Zealand. All carts here are designed and manufactured in New Zealand, with a hybrid appearance between go-karts and sleds. Instead of engine-powered propulsion, they rely entirely on gravity to race down the tracks. The controls are beginner-friendly—pulling the handle backward slows or brakes the cart, while releasing it accelerates, allowing riders to fully control their speed. This unique activity is available in only a few cities worldwide, and Kuala Lumpur is one of them. The park features four tracks laid along the mountain terrain, connecting continuous curves, hairpin turns, and tunnels. Each ride begins with a four-person chairlift cable car, taking you to the hilltop before you choose any track to race back down. Speed enthusiasts can repeatedly challenge themselves on tracks packed with tight turns, while family-friendly options allow adults and children to ride together. The experience is available both day and night, with the tracks illuminated after dark—offering a thrilling downhill rush under the lights that feels entirely different from the daytime. Many travelers specifically opt for the nighttime time slots. Photo spots are set up along the tracks, so watch for cameras when navigating turns. The park also includes activities like high-altitude ziplines, perfect for combining into your itinerary.Rawang · 22.5km from Shah Alam

Putra Mosque is also known as the "Floating Mosque" because about three-quarters of the building extends over Putrajaya Lake. The exterior is predominantly pink, constructed largely from rose-colored granite, and features nine domes. Construction began in 1997, and it can accommodate over 10,000 worshippers at once, making it one of the most recognizable landmarks in Putrajaya. The mosque consists mainly of three parts: the prayer hall, the courtyard, and the learning and functional spaces. The roof of the prayer hall resembles an open umbrella, composed of 49 domes of varying sizes arranged in a radial pattern, with a design inspired by Islamic architectural traditions. The minaret next to the mosque is tall and slender, with a rocket-shaped spire, and is equipped with elevators and stairs to reach the top. The entire mosque is designed to take full advantage of natural ventilation from the lake, with lake breezes passing through the corridors and vertical grilles to keep the interior cool. Viewed from the opposite shore, the pink domes and their reflection in the lake create a picturesque scene.Putrajaya · 24.3km from Shah Alam

Batu Caves is a cave temple complex formed by limestone hills and is one of the most famous Hindu pilgrimage sites outside of India. This karst cave complex contains over 20 known caves, with the larger Temple Cave housing the Hindu deity of war, Murugan. It is also the central venue for Malaysia's Thaipusam festival, which attracts a large number of Hindu devotees for pilgrimage every year. At the foot of the hill stands a gilded statue of Murugan, approximately 42.7 m high and entirely gold-plated, serving as an iconic landmark of the scenic area. Next to the statue is a colorful rainbow staircase, requiring a climb of 272 steps to reach the cave entrance. Flocks of pigeons often gather on both sides of the stairs, and the plaza is dotted with multiple Hindu statues and colorful decorations. After entering the Temple Cave, walking deep along the towering cave walls, sunlight pours in from natural openings in the cave ceiling, illuminating the rock walls and Hindu shrines, with exquisite statues of Hindu deities distributed throughout the cave. The Cave Villa complex at the foot of the hill consists of the Art Gallery Cave and Museum Cave, displaying statues and murals based on Hindu mythology. To the left of the main staircase is the Ramayana Cave - Suyambu Lingam, with a tall statue of Hanuman standing at the entrance, and murals inside the cave depicting classic scenes from the Indian epic "Ramayana." Stalactites, stalagmites, and other karst geological features can be seen on the cave walls, and the caves are also home to various bats and other cave-dwelling creatures. A rock climbing route has been opened on the northeast side of the hill, attracting many rock climbing enthusiasts to take on the challenge.Batu Caves · 25.9km from Shah Alam

Visiting the Petronas Towers requires advance booking. You'll queue on the first floor to take the elevator together, but it's not crowded and the experience is quite pleasant. You can reach two floors: first, the area connecting the two towers on the 40+ floor, where staff will leave at a set time; then, take the elevator directly to the 86th floor.

Went there on a Saturday night. It was quite packed and busy, and the traffic was pretty bad, so the journey took about 2 hours and 31 minutes instead of the expected 2 hours. Despite the delay, we really enjoyed the bus trip. It was a relaxing way to explore Kuala Lumpur and take in the surrounding sights along the way. Overall, a pleasant experience, especially for enjoying the city views.

Kuala Lumpur Tower Review (98 words) From the Kuala Lumpur Tower observation deck, you can overlook the entire city, with the Petronas Twin Towers, TRX Tower, and National Theatre all visible – a fantastic vantage point. Unfortunately, the haze was heavy today, obscuring the distant views and significantly diminishing the experience. The SkyBox, a suspended glass structure, is quite challenging and suitable for photography enthusiasts. Overall, it's more of a city skyline photo opportunity; a visit to the tower is relatively short, and it's a convenient stop if you're passing by, not worth a special trip.

Pure Joy — Kids Had the Best Day Ever! 💧The two little ones absolutely loved Wet World! As soon as we arrived, they were off — one racing up the slide towers, splashing down with huge grins; the other exploring every pool and play area. They were so full of energy, running everywhere — hard to keep track of, but seeing them so free and happy was priceless! The water play areas are perfect for children — safe, fun, and exciting. Trip.com made it so simple to visit — easy booking, quick entry, great value. A day they’ll be talking about for ages!

Definitely worth the experience and achievement of climbing the stairs. Monkeys are intimidating and although I had no food, one jumped onto my backpack while I was climbing the stairs. Nature inside the cave is lovely.
