Umeji ecological park

Yuji Ecological Park is located in Shuyang, a flower town in China. Because Yuji was born in Shuyang, the kind-hearted people of Shuyang built an ecological park for her, namely Yuji Ecological Park, in memory of Yuji. In the Yuji Ecological Garden, the use of aquatic plants has also opened up a precedent for Shuyang to have no flowers on the water surface, and designed aquatic flowers such as lotus, Changpu, and water onion. The tree-lined paths all over the green sea can be seen everywhere in the park, and the road and civil construction area in the scenic area has reached 30,000 square meters. Among the elements of gardening, water is indispensable. Ancient poets often compared the water system in the garden to the meridians. , In accordance with the art of gardening, the waterscape is treated in a dynamic and static way, and there is a sense of movement in the tranquility and elegance. In the leisure resort area, ponds, pools, digging streams, and hills are built, decorated with small bridges and stone steps. It creates an infinitely beautiful, harmonious, comfortable and quiet ecological garden environment, making visitors feel like they are in a water town in the south of the Yangtze River, with a unique atmosphere. The unique natural ecological environment has also made it a "paradise for birds". Many birds come here to settle down or take a short rest. With the prosperous scene of the flower town where man and nature coexist harmoniously, the arrival of these human friends brings infinite vitality to the ecological park.Shuyang · 352m from downtown

Ancient Town of Qingzhou

Qingzhou is one of the ancient nine provinces of China. Since the early Western Han Dynasty, six cities—Guang County, Guanggu City, Dongyang City, Nanyang City, Dongguan Weizi City, and Qicheng—were successively built on this land, with a continuous urban history spanning over two thousand years. Today, the Ancient Town of Qingzhou has been comprehensively protected and restored, forming three major districts: the Beiguan ancient block in Dongyang City, the Ouyuan historical and cultural block and the South Gate block in Nanyang City, and the Zhaode ancient block in Dongguan Weizi City. Government buildings, traditional residences, and classical gardens are scattered across hundreds of ancient streets and alleys, such as North Gate Street and East Gate Street, with their blue bricks and dark tiles showcasing distinct Ming and Qing architectural styles. Unlike many entirely reconstructed ancient towns, this is a "living ancient town," where original residents still live in the old streets and alleys, and intangible cultural heritage items like the cuoqin are passed down on the streets, blending the vibrancy of daily life with ancient charm. A visit can begin by ascending the Fucai Gate Tower at the south gate of ancient Nanyang City for a panoramic view of the town's sea of dark tiles. Ouyuan is a preserved classical garden within the town, originally the eastern garden of the Ming Dynasty's Prince of Heng's residence and later the private garden of Feng Pu, a grand secretary during the Qing Kangxi era. Its three-peak rockery embodies the grandeur of northern landscapes. Figures like Fan Zhongyan and Ouyang Xiu once served as officials here, and Li Qingzhao lived in Qingzhou for over a decade, composing numerous ci poems. Historical relics like the Qingzhou Prefecture Examination Hall are also scattered throughout the streets, where traces of this cultural legacy can often be encountered. The main street is densely lined with shops, but to avoid crowds, one can turn into the side alleys or head straight to Zhaode Ancient Street—where rows of Ming and Qing-era houses remain, with wooden doors, stone steps, and flagstone paths offering a glimpse of old Qingzhou's daily life.China · Qingzhou

Badaguan

Badaguan is a coastal neighborhood in the southern part of Qingdao, nestled between the southern foothills of Taiping Mountain, Huiquan Cape, and Taiping Cape. It earned its name from eight streets named after ancient passes, with roads like Shaoguan Road, Zhengyangguan Road, and Shanhaiguan Road now forming a crisscrossing network. The area is shaded by lush trees, dotted with deep courtyards, and offers a tranquil atmosphere with few pedestrians. This neighborhood boasts hundreds of old villas built in the 1920s and 1930s, showcasing a blend of architectural styles from Russia, Britain, Germany, Denmark, Japan, and more, earning it the nickname "International Architecture Expo." Among them, the seaside Huashi Building is a European castle-style structure built with multicolored stones and is one of the few villas open to the public, allowing visitors to explore inside and enjoy sea views from its rooftop platform. On Juyongguan Road, the Princess Building is a Danish-style villa with green walls and red tiles, named after a Danish princess and known for its photogenic charm. The Marshal Building on Shanhaiguan Road is a Japanese-style villa where several founding marshals once stayed. Note that most villas here are not open to the public, so visitors can only admire their exteriors. A unique feature of Badaguan is its "one tree per road" theme: Shaoguan Road is lined with flowering peach trees that bloom brilliantly in spring; Ningwuguan Road is adorned with crabapple flowers in late spring and early summer; Zhengyangguan Road is filled with crape myrtles throughout summer and autumn; Jiayuguan Road is flanked by maple trees turning red and yellow in late autumn; Juyongguan Road is carpeted with golden ginkgo leaves; Zijingguan Road features evergreen cedars; while Shanhaiguan Road and Linhuaiguan Road are lined with plane trees and junipers, respectively. Each season transforms the neighborhood into a different landscape. Walking south to the end of these roads leads to the seaside, adjacent to the Second Bathing Beach, where fine sand contrasts with red-tiled villas, embodying Qingdao's classic "red tiles, green trees, blue sea, and azure sky" scenery. This area is a popular spot for wedding photos and a quintessential place for strolls and photography in Qingdao.China · Qingdao

Confucius Temple-Qinhuai Scenic Area

8
4.7/5
7.3k reviews
The Confucius Temple-Qinhuai Scenic Area refers to the Qinhuai River area centered around the Confucius Temple, where the streets, alleys, residences, and historical sites along both banks form a continuous stretch. It has been a bustling and lively part of Nanjing since ancient times. The line "The swallows that skimmed by painted eaves in bygone days are dipping now among the humble homes' doorways" by Liu Yuxi describes this very place. The Wuyi Lane mentioned in the poem still lies hidden among the alleys near the Confucius Temple. Exploring history along the river is the highlight of this area: The Dacheng hall of Confucius temple stands by the water, with a towering screen wall across the Pan pond in front; the nearby Jiangnan examination hall was the imperial testing site for provincial exams during the Ming and Qing dynasties, now replaced by the China imperial examination museum; Zhan garden and Egret isle park both originated from the mansion gardens of Xu Da's family, a founding general of the Ming dynasty—the former also houses the Taiping heavenly kingdom history museum; scattered along both banks within walking distance are historical sites like Meixiang tower (former residence of "Peach blossom fan" heroine Li Xiangjun), the well-preserved Zhonghua gate with its urn-shaped defense system, Wu Jingzi's residence (author of "The scholars"), and ancient ferry relics like Taoye crossing, easily connected into a historical walking trail. Cuisine is also a signature feature of this area: "The eight Qinhuai delicacies" refer to sixteen famous dishes from eight time-honored snack restaurants, including Yongheyuan's crab-shell yellow sesame cakes and dried shrimp shreds, Qifangge's duck oil crispy cakes and sesame oil dried shreds, Jiangyouji's beef pot stickers, and Lianhu pastry shop's osmanthus-filled glutinous rice balls. The Confucius Temple area and Laomendong are lined with teahouses, snack shops, and various stores, offering plenty of opportunities to rest and grab a bite when tired, along with the chance to pick up some souvenirs. The highlight comes after nightfall: board a painted boat from the pier in front of the Confucius Temple, listen to the guide while admiring the white walls and black tiles illuminated by riverside lanterns—this is the classic "night mooring on the Qinhuai" experience. From Chinese New Year to the Lantern Festival each year, the Qinhuai River Lantern Festival (also known as the Jinling Lantern Festival), listed as a national intangible cultural heritage, takes place here. The Confucius Temple, Laomendong, and along the Qinhuai River are adorned with lanterns and decorations. "Visiting the Confucius Temple to see lanterns during New Year" remains a cherished tradition for Nanjing locals. Even on ordinary days, the area buzzes with cultural temple fairs, food festivals, and other celebrations, offering unique surprises in different seasons.China · Nanjing

Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum

Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum

7.5
4.7/5
22.8k reviews
Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum is located in the Zhongshan scenic area in the eastern suburbs of Nanjing, nestled at the southern foot of Purple Mountain, adjacent to Linggu Temple to the east and Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum to the west. It serves as the tomb of Dr. Sun Yat-sen. The entire architectural complex, designed by architect Lü Yanzhi, follows the mountain's terrain along a central axis from south to north. When viewed from above, the tomb area forms a "warning bell" pattern, symbolizing "awakening the people." Construction began in 1926, and the main structures were completed in 1929, marked by the grand burial ceremony. The blue-glazed tiles paired with granite walls create a solemn and serene tone, making it one of the representative works blending Chinese and Western architectural styles. Along the central axis: the entrance features a towering granite Bo'ai archway, with the gilded inscription "Bo'ai" (universal love) handwritten by Sun Yat-sen on its lintel. Behind the archway lies a long tomb path flanked by trees. At the end of the path stands the mausoleum gate with cyan-glazed tiles, inscribed with "Tianxia wei gong" (the world belongs to the public). Further north is the stele pavilion housing a massive granite tombstone. Beyond this are 392 stone steps with a height difference of over 70 m, each section offering a resting platform. A thought-provoking visual design hides here: looking up from below, only steps are visible; looking down from above, only platforms appear—a detail worth experiencing firsthand. On one platform along the way, a pair of bronze tripods inscribed with "grand burial ceremony" are displayed, one bearing a bullet hole from Japanese artillery fire in 1937—a detail often missed by hurried visitors but worth pausing to observe. At the top of the steps lies the main sacrificial hall, designed in palace style. Its three arched doorways are engraved with "minzu" (nationalism), "minquan" (democracy), and "minsheng" (livelihood), while the central door bears Sun Yat-sen's calligraphy "Tiandi zhengqi" (righteousness of heaven and earth). Inside, a white marble statue of Sun Yat-sen sits at the center, with six relief carvings around its base. The burial chamber behind the hall is usually closed to the public, with visits focused on the sacrificial hall. The surrounding area also features memorial structures like the music stage, Liuhui Pavilion, Yangzhi Pavilion, Xingjian Pavilion, and the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall.China · Nanjing

This tour guide, Zhang Yi, was exceptionally dedicated. The scheduled 2-hour tour started at 9:30 AM, but actually lasted until around 12:30 PM. His explanations were very professional and detailed, and he interacted with the children throughout, answering questions and even giving them gifts. The most expensive private tour I booked for Sanxingdui last time, featuring the character Sanmao, had a tour guide who rushed through the entire tour, barely touching the last minute. This small group of 15 was definitely superior.

When visiting Qingzhou Ancient City, the Fucai Gate Tower is a must-see, considered the heart of the ancient city. There aren't many other attractions within the ancient city, but the tower has a great location, with convenient access via sightseeing electric carts. There are also plenty of food stalls to explore nearby.

If you haven't been there, it's worth a visit. It's a famous spot in Nanjing, always packed with people. As for the boat tour, if you haven't been before, you can take a ride, but it's probably a one-time thing, so the price isn't great. It's a 40-minute round trip on the boat, listening to the announcements, watching the night view of the Qinhuai River, with its many bridges along the banks. You can learn about history, see the waterscape and night view, and soak in the atmosphere.

The boat departs at 9:30 AM. If you arrive early, you can take photos with the Olympic torch. The boat has three decks, and it looks beautiful when the sun shines on the shimmering water. However, it doesn't go very far, there are no seagulls, and it's a bit shaky. Overall, the experience is just average.

I happened to be there during the chrysanthemum exhibition, and the all-inclusive ticket was quite cheap. The scenery inside was nice, and Bird Island was also quite interesting, with shows and various activities. You can easily spend a morning exploring at your own pace.

The Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum Scenic Area, located on Zijin Mountain in Nanjing, is the tomb of Dr. Sun Yat-sen and a national 5A-level scenic area. Admission to the mausoleum is free. As the core of the Zhongshan Scenic Area, it is not only a memorial site but also a masterpiece of modern architectural art. Its unique architectural style: the overall plan is shaped like a "Liberty Bell," symbolizing the awakening of the people. There are 392 stone steps from the archway to the tomb chamber, symbolizing the 392 million people in China at that time. The core attractions are concentrated here: the Bo'ai Archway, the mausoleum gate, the stele pavilion, the sacrificial hall, and the tomb chamber. Surrounding these are auxiliary buildings such as the Music Stage, the Liuhui Pavilion, and the Meiling Palace.
