Mount Taishan

Mount Taishan is centered around Mount Taishan, the first of the Five Great Mountains, with steep and towering peaks, and the views of sunrise and sunset from the summit are breathtaking. Sea of clouds often appear among the mountains, and in winter there are spectacular rime ice views. In addition to natural scenery, the mountain also has numerous historical sites, stone inscriptions, religious temples, and other cultural views, with cliff inscriptions and steles scattered throughout the mountain, which is a major feature of Mount Taishan. Mount Taishan has its own highlights in each of the four seasons: in spring, peach and pear blossoms bloom across the mountains; in summer, the mountaintop is lush green and cool, making it a great summer retreat; in fall, the leaves are a mix of red and yellow, dyeing the layered forests in brilliant colors. There are multiple routes to the summit of Mount Taishan. The hiking trail at the Hongmen entrance is the traditional route opened during Emperor Qin Shi Huang's Fengshan ceremony, consisting mainly of stone steps. Walking from Hongmen to Zhongtianmen, you will pass by numerous attractions along the way, including Wanxian Tower, Doumu Palace, Huima Ridge, and Hutiange. This area is also where stone inscriptions are concentrated. After reaching Zhongtianmen, you can take a cable car or walk to Nantianmen and the summit area, where you can see attractions such as Eighteen Bends, Shengxian Archway, Duisong Mountain, Chaoyang Cave, and Wudafu Pines. The Tianwaicun route is a road leading from Tianwaicun to Zhongtianmen, accessible by tour bus, passing by Heilong Pool, Fanzhi Cliff, and Feng Yuxiang's Tomb. After reaching Zhongtianmen, it merges with the latter half of the Hongmen route. Travelers who prefer not to hike can choose this route. The Tianzhufeng route is relatively steep with few visitors, and is a hiking route often taken by outdoor enthusiasts. It features beautiful mountain scenery, including attractions such as Liyu Back, and at the starting point there is also the large-scale live performance "Chinese Mount Taishan: Grand Ceremony of Fengshan." The Taohuayu route is mostly chosen by travelers when descending the mountain. From Tianjie at the summit, take the ropeway to the mountainside, then transfer to a tour bus down to Taohuayu at the foot of the mountain. Along the way, you can enjoy the Colorful Stone Stream scenic area, where the colorful stone patterns at the bottom of the stream are quite magical. Dongyudao is also a walking hiking route, with attractions such as Qingyang Hall, Hanque Gate, and Dongtianmen along the way. Each route ultimately leads to the Daiding tourist area at the summit. Daiding features the main peak of Mount Taishan, Jade Emperor Peak, the Tianjie Scenic Area, as well as attractions such as Sun Viewing Peak, Daguan Peak, Zhanlu Terrace, Bixia Temple, and Confucius Temple. On clear days at the summit, you can gaze at the Yellow River in the distance and admire the wonder of the "Golden Belt of the Yellow River." The Houshiwu area is rich in varied pines and rocks, and there is a cableway leading to the North Heavenly Gate. Many visitors who want to watch the sunrise choose to climb Mount Taishan at night, usually setting off from the Hongmen route, and it is advisable to depart around 11 pm. This route is well lit at night, and a hike of about seven to eight hours will allow you to reach Sun Viewing Peak or Jade Emperor Peak at the summit before sunrise, which are ideal spots for watching the sunrise.Tai'an · 6.9km from downtown

Dai Temple

The Dai Temple is located at the southern foot of Mount Tai and in Tai'an City. It was first built in the Qin and Han Dynasties. It was the place where emperors of ancient dynasties worshipped the gods of Mount Tai and held sacrificial ceremonies. It is also a famous Taoist place. The Dai Temple has a large-scale architectural complex and is known as one of the four major ancient architectural complexes in China, along with the Forbidden City in Beijing, the Three Confucian Temples in Qufu, Shandong, and the Chengde Mountain Resort. Today, the majestic palaces are well preserved here, and you can enjoy the huge murals of the Song Dynasty and many ancient inscriptions. The entire Dai Temple was built in accordance with the palace city of ancient emperors. The high battlements and magnificent palaces show the style of ancient temples everywhere. Entering the Dai Temple from south to north, you can pass through the main buildings such as the Yaocan Pavilion, the Dai Temple Square, the Zhengyang Gate, the Peitian Gate, and the Ren'an Gate in turn, and then reach the Tianfu Hall. Among them, the tall Zhengyang Gate is the main entrance to the Dai Temple. In ancient times, only emperors could enter from this gate. Tianfu Hall is the core building of Dai Temple. It is the shrine of Emperor Dongyue. The God of Mount Tai (i.e. Emperor Dongyue) is enshrined in the hall. On the north, east and west walls of the hall are painted huge murals from the Song Dynasty, "Taishan Qiluan Huiluan Tu", which depicts the grand scene of the God of Mount Tai's tour. The people and horses in the painting are in various poses and the shapes are vivid and lifelike. This is the only painting of this theme in the country. You need to buy shoe covers at the door before entering Tianfu Hall, and you cannot take pictures of the murals. There are more than 300 steles and stone carvings from past dynasties in Dai Temple, so it is called "Dai Temple Stele Beilin " and a famous place to appreciate calligraphy. You can see the earliest existing stone carvings in China - the Qin Dynasty Li Si Xiaozhuan Stele. This stone carving is the edict issued by Qin II Hu Hai, and was carved by Prime Minister Li Si in Xiaozhuan font. It has a history of more than 2,200 years and is a precious treasure. There are also the representative works of Han Dynasty official script style "Zhang Qian Stele" and "Heng Fang Stele", one of the three great steles of Jin Dynasty, "Madam Sun" Stele, and the unique Tang Dynasty "Shuang Shu Stele" and other precious historical sites. In addition, the trees in the Dai Temple are lush and towering, and the environment is very beautiful. There are many precious ancient trees, especially the "Han Cypress" and "Tang Sophora japonica" that have experienced thousands of years of wind and rain, which are among the ancient trees and famous trees in the Dai Temple. There are five ancient cypresses in the Han Cypress Courtyard, which are said to have been planted by Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty when he was enfeoffed in the east. Although they are now peeled and withered, new branches continue to grow. There are also dozens of steles from past dynasties in the courtyard, and there are 26 steles made by Emperor Qianlong alone. There are also a copper pavilion and an iron tower on the east and west sides of the backyard of the Dai Temple, both of which are Ming Dynasty relics and were moved here from other places in Tai'an. Among them, the copper pavilion, also known as the "Golden Palace", was earlier placed in the Bixia Temple on the top of Mount Tai. The ancient craftsmen with superb skills assembled the pavilion in the form of imitation wood structure, which can be said to be ingenious. Guide services are available in the Attraction . If you are interested in ancient monuments, it is worth asking a Guide to Guide it here. In addition, there is a row of small shops selling Souvenir at the entrance of the Attraction . The shopkeepers can generally help look after ordinary luggage for a low fee. https://youimg1.tripcdn.com/target/100m0q000000gkjh32240_D_10000_1200.jpg?proc=autoorient " style="width: 100%;" title="">Tai'an · 4km from downtown

Worth a visit. Mount Tai's charm lies in its grandeur; it's not the highest mountain, but it's the one with the richest cultural heritage. Ascending the stone steps, you'll find stone carvings from various dynasties etched into the cliff faces, and ancient buildings scattered along the mountain's contours. Climbing the mountain is a test of physical strength, but only upon reaching the summit can you truly appreciate the vastness described by the ancients. There's no need to wait for spectacular sights; simply traversing the ancient paths, touching the marks of time etched into the rocks—this profound weight is the unique significance of Mount Tai.

Dai Temple is definitely worth a visit! I was lucky it was raining in Tai'an the day I went, but there was a three-hour break in the rain, so I quickly went to Dai Temple, entering from the south gate and exiting from the north gate. I even walked around the city wall – it was a very nice experience.

We took the cable car down the mountain. I thought it would be a long ride. It only took about 10 minutes. 100 yuan gone too quickly, haha. The worst part is that the cable car only goes halfway up the mountain; after that, you have to spend another 40 yuan to take the park bus. The scenery from the cable car wasn't great either. Maybe my expectations were a bit too high at first.

It's a great tourist destination. The temperature inside the cave is around 18°C year-round, making it a perfect summer retreat. The stalactites, formed over hundreds of years, shimmer under the lights. The various uniquely shaped stalactites can be imagined in all sorts of ways, providing a great experience for both adults and children. We also tried rafting, traversing through the cave and immersing ourselves in the stalactite formations – it was truly wonderful.

Worth a visit. It wasn't crowded during the holiday, and the giant animal festival decorations were quite beautiful. The interactive activities to earn silver tickets were a hit with the kids. The "Flying Over Mount Tai" was quite thrilling, the rafting was fun, and the horse battle performance is highly recommended. However, the silver ticket redemption at the end wasn't quite worth it.
