Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route

4.9/5
38 reviews
Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route stretches across the Northern Alps peaks on the border of Toyama and Nagano prefectures. With multiple 3,000m-class peaks like Oyama, Onanji-yama, and Mount Tsurugi forming a continuous ridge, it represents the essence of the Japanese Alps scenery. Together with Mount Fuji and Mount Haku, it is known as one of Japan's three sacred mountains and has been a site of mountain worship for over a thousand years. Besides hiking, you can explore this area by using a relay of various transportation modes such as funiculars, highland buses, tunnel trolley buses, and ropeways to ascend from the mountain foot to above the sea of clouds. Every spring, the Yuki no Ōtani section's snow walls can reach nearly 20m in height, making driving through it feel like passing through a white canyon; in summer and fall, alpine plants in the Midagahara wetlands bloom in succession and later turn into golden autumn colors. Sometimes, you may even encounter ptarmigans inhabiting the mountains. Murododaira, at an altitude of approx. 2,450m, is a plateau above the clouds. On sunny days, the nearby volcanic lake, Mikurigaike, reflects the Mount Tate peaks, making it a classic photo attraction; descending to the Kurobe River valley, the Kurobe Dam, standing over 180m tall, spans the deep valley. When water is discharged, the mist rises, creating an awe-inspiring sight; on the side of the mountain foot, the four-tiered Shomyo Falls, with a total drop of approx. 350m, is also worth a visit along the way.Tateyama · 14.8km from downtown

Kurobe Dam sits at an altitude of 1,500 m, with a maximum height of 186 m, still holding the record for the highest Kurobe Dam, making it one of the most popular attractions. The view from the observation deck at the top of the 220 steps offers a beautiful view of Kurobe Dam, where you can watch the water discharge up close. The thundering water discharge of over 10 tons per second and the sight of rainbows are breathtaking.Tateyama · 33km from downtown

This is a wide waterfront park surrounding the Togan Canal. In this open garden full of lawns, everyone from children to the elderly can spend a happy time. The Tenmon Bridge with an observation deck is the symbol of the park. There is also a square with fountains and waterfalls. In addition to large-scale amusement facilities, you can also take the Togan Water Cruise Route to travel around the canal. There is a world-class "Starbucks" coffee shop and a high-end French restaurant "LA CHANCE" supervised by Mr. Hiroyuki Sakai, the first French chef. Throughout the year, various interesting events such as fireworks festivals are held according to the seasons, so you can see its new look whenever you go. In addition, the dreamy night view with lights is even more beautiful and is worth recommending.Toyama City · 10.4km from Tateyama

Toyama Castle, the residence of the three generations of the Jimbo clan. It is a flat castle surrounded by the Jinbo River, and it seems to be floating on the water from a distance, so it is also called a floating castle. Today's Toyama Castle is a simulated castle that was rebuilt during the Showa period, and the Toyama City Folk Museum is set up inside the castle.Toyama City · 9.7km from Tateyama

The Tateyama Kurobe Alps Route is a tourist sightseeing route across the lofty mountains in Hokuriku, central Japan, because it takes six different climbing modes, time control is important. This one trip was one of the most anticipated of my entire trip, unfortunately the weather was not good, we got to Tateyama Station has started to rain heavily, up to see the view, all mist, like a fairyland.

Toyama Canal Park is perfect for a relaxing stroll! The canal is lined with green trees and has wide trails, making it comfortable for cycling or walking. The landmark "Tianmen Bridge" has a beautiful night view, and its reflection on the water is super dreamy. There is also a Starbucks in the park, and it is very comfortable to sit in the open air and drink coffee. Cherry blossoms in spring and red leaves in autumn, each season has different beautiful scenery, and both locals and tourists love to come here!

Toyama Castle is one of the famous ancient castles in Japan and has been listed as a World Cultural Heritage. It not only has Japanese characteristics, but also the castle tower has beautiful red leaves. The red leaves in Toyama Castle are really beautiful, and they contrast with the golden grass on the ground. It is really beautiful.

Figure 1 shows the store where the food voucher can be used; other stores don't accept it. It's a Mario-themed food store. I selected the starred item priced at 1100, and although it exceeded 1000, they didn't ask me to pay an extra 100. All the food items there could be redeemed; they were beautifully presented and delicious.

If you're lucky, you might even see a ptarmigan! Walking in the snow is very dangerous, so you'll need to be properly equipped.
