Stonehenge

On the Salisbury Plain southeast of Bath, England, numerous stone circles stand amidst the vast wilderness—this is the mysterious prehistoric site of Stonehenge in the British Isles. In 1130 AD, a British priest accidentally discovered Stonehenge during a journey. These majestic stones, with an average weight of nearly 30 tons, still puzzle researchers today regarding their arrangement and exact purpose. On the way to the prehistoric Stonehenge, signs are posted along the route, and railings surround the site, allowing visitors to view it from a distance of 30 m. Research suggests its construction spanned over a thousand years: approx. 3000 BC, ancient people built embankments here, creating a circular earthwork with 56 pits arranged inside; by approx. 2500 BC, the massive stones were gradually transported and erected. The main sandstone blocks were sourced from the Marlborough Downs, approx. 30 km away, with each averaging approx. 25 tons, and the heel stone weighing approx. 30 tons. The smaller bluestones came from the Preseli Hills in Wales, over 200 km away. The fact that such transportation was accomplished without metal tools or wheels still astonishes researchers today.Salisbury · 24.9km from Warminster

The Roman Baths

The Roman Baths is located in the center of Bath, opposite Bath Abbey. It is an attraction in Bath and also the origin of the city's name. This well-preserved Roman bathhouse is a place that draws endless streams of eager visitors. Stepping inside is like witnessing a living portrait of Roman-era life, featuring the sacred spring, Roman temple, Roman bathhouse andThe Roman BathsThe artifacts are quite famous. #Architectural features# The Victorian reception hall at the entrance is magnificent, with arched ceilings carved with scenes of the four seasons. Here, besides purchasing tickets, don't forget to pick up a free audio guide (available in Chinese). However, large luggage storage is not provided, so if needed, you can store bulky luggage elsewhere before exploring. The baths are divided into upper and lower levels. The lower-level pool is connected to an underground hot spring, with emerald-green water that remains warm to this day, bubbling up continuously. It's hard to imagine it has maintained this state for over 10,000 years. The upper and lower levels of the baths are supported by 12 pillars, each topped with statues of varying forms, as the Romans believed the godlike hot springs were a gift from divine protection. From the reception hall, you can proceed to the terrace, which offers a panoramic view of the Great Bath, surrounded by Victorian-era statues dating back to 1894. Take a moment here to admire the overall grandeur of the Great Bath. #Sacred spring# The sacred spring is located at the heart of The Roman Baths, with natural water maintaining a constant temperature of 46°C. Water gushes from underground day and night, with excess flowing into the original Roman drainage system. The museum features a glass floor, allowing visitors to clearly see the bath's water pipes below, which also house treasures like carved gemstones and tin masks, well worth a look. #Great bath# The Great Bath is the highlight for most visitors. This massive pool is lined with 45 lead slabs and has a depth of 1.6 m. Steps are installed around it for easy access. The pool is filled with abundant spring water, its surface steaming. A large stone slab lies horizontally where the hot spring flows out, serving as a diving platform for entertainment in ancient times. From 10:00 to 17:00 daily and during July and August evenings, staff dress in ancient Roman attire, immersing visitors in the distant Roman era. The Great Bath is flanked by the East Bath and West Bath, along with bathing suites and a high-temperature bath. For more historical insights, visit The Roman Baths Museum, which houses composite models of the temple and baths, as well as exhibits of comedy films related to ancient Rome.Bath · 23.2km from Warminster

The British Museum

The British Museum is one of the largest and most renowned museums in the world. The British Museum houses over 8 million cultural relics and treasures from around the globe, with its vast quantity and diversity of collections being rare among museums worldwide. Rich collection of treasures Due to its vast collection, The British Museum can nearly showcase the entire course of world civilization. Despite spatial limitations, it still displays approx. 50,000 items simultaneously. The main collections date from the medieval period, with particular renown for ancient Egyptian and Greco-Roman artifacts, alongside a wealth of precious cultural relics from Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and the Americas. Many cultural treasures from around the world can only be seen in their authentic form here. Ancient Greek-style main building The main building emulates ancient Greek architecture, featuring a grand entrance with a tall colonnade flanked by eight thick and towering Roman-style columns on each side, topped by a pediment roof adorned with reliefs. Entering through the main door leads to the great court, which is connected to over 100 galleries of various sizes surrounding it. Inspired by the Louvre Pyramid, the great court is bright, spacious, and elegantly minimalist. Bright central atrium The great court was originally part of the British Library. After the library moved out, it was transformed into a covered square with a white color scheme. The square's massive semi-transparent roof is composed of many uniquely shaped glass panels, combined with white stone, ensuring excellent lighting even on gloomy days in London. The sculptures displayed in the court are genuine treasures, such as the marble lion and Easter Island statues. Additionally, artists from around the world occasionally perform here, adding a relaxed atmosphere to the solemn museum. At the center of the grand atrium is the reading room, displaying art literature and books open to the public, where travelers can admire the dome and quaint circular bookshelves up close. The entrance of the reading room is marked with the names of notable figures to commemorate their time spent reading here. Cafés and restaurants are located on both sides and above the grand atrium, offering dining options with a view overlooking the entire space. Along the outer edge of the reading room lies the museum shop, where visitors can purchase souvenirs after their tour. Three iconic treasures The Rosetta Stone: Originally from Egypt, this stone bears three different script versions of an ancient Egyptian pharaoh's decree. Through comparing these scripts, archaeologists gradually unlocked the key to deciphering ancient Egyptian civilization. However, the Rosetta Stone displayed at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo is a replica. Admonitions scroll: The scroll consists of 12 paintings in total, with The British Museum housing 9 Tang dynasty replica versions. The Admonitions scroll ranks 39th in BBC's "A History of the World in 100 Objects," highlighting its immense cultural and historical value. Throughout history, the scroll has been collected by numerous emperors and high-ranking officials. The Elgin Marbles: These are sculptural fragments from the Parthenon, with a history of over 2,500 years. They have been housed in the museum for over 200 years since the British royal family purchased them at great expense. Specialty exhibition halls Asian pavilions: Halls 33 and 95. Hall 33 features artifacts from China, South Asia, and Southeast Asia, including collections from countries like India. Hall 33B is dedicated to Chinese jade artifacts, while Hall 95 showcases Chinese ceramics. The British Museum is one of the museums with the largest collections of lost Chinese artifacts, housing over 25,000 pieces, with approx. 2,000 on long-term display. The exhibition is meticulously designed, organizing Shang and Zhou dynasty bronzes along a chronological sequence, displaying artifacts from the Shang and Zhou, Qin and Han, to the Republican era. The major kilns of porcelain are divided into different curated sections by Ru, Ge, Jun, Ding, and Guan styles, presented professionally and systematically. Recommended artifacts to admire include large Tang tri-color ceramics, the Song Cizhou kiln "circus pillow," the Yuan blue-and-white fish and algae pattern large plate, Ming Xuande cloisonné, and Dunhuang mural Buddha statues. Ancient Egypt exhibition hall: halls 4, 61-66. One of the popular spots in the museum. The exhibits include mummies. The ancient Egypt hall is also one of the most visited exhibition halls, and almost all visitors to The British Museum make it a must-see. Ancient Greek and Roman galleries: rooms 11-23, 69-73, 77, 78, 82-85. The entire Parthenon is truly awe-inspiring, along with numerous ancient Greek marble sculptures and exquisite artifacts like vases. Don't miss the Portland Vase in room 70. Some exhibits are not suitable for long-term display and are only open during specific periods each year (including the mentioned Admonitions scroll). • Stroll through Windsor Castle, the royal family's ancestral home • Admire exquisite treasures in the national suites • Enjoy audio guides and savor the beauty of the castle Windsor Castle has been the family residence of the British royal House of Windsor, situated on a hill overlooking the River Thames. Originally built by William the Conqueror in the 11th century, the castle's design has evolved over time due to its long history, changing royal tastes, and financial circumstances, blending classical and modern elements. Windsor Castle can be divided into the Upper Ward, Middle Ward, and Lower Ward. The Upper Ward mainly features royal furnishings like the Waterloo Chamber (banquet hall) and art galleries. The Middle Ward has the Round Tower surrounded by the Rose Garden, while the Lower Ward includes Gothic-style St. George's Chapel among other attractions. The upper section primarily consists of state suites and royal private suites, renowned for their collection of royal paintings and treasures. With furniture and decorations dating back to the Middle Ages, each room here can be considered a small art gallery. The central area here is dominated by the round tower surrounded by rose gardens, originally built of wood and later reconstructed in stone. The round tower once served as a prison for royal political enemies but now primarily houses the royal archives and photography collections. St. George's Chapel in the Lower Ward is a fine example of English Gothic architecture, renowned for its magnificent stone fan-vaulted ceiling and exquisite stained glass windows. It has also hosted numerous royal weddings.United Kingdom · Windsor

Stonehenge is a truly special place. Seeing these megaliths that have stood for thousands of years in person is still incredibly awe-inspiring. The surrounding natural environment is also beautiful, and the whole atmosphere is very tranquil, with a mysterious and ancient feel. Although the visit time isn't particularly long, as a very representative historical site in Britain, it's definitely worth seeing in person.

Originally built in the 1st century AD (during the Roman occupation of Britain), it was constructed around natural geothermal springs and dedicated to Sulis Minerva, the goddess of Celtic and Roman fusion. It served as a religious sanctuary, a spa resort, and a public bath for all. After the Roman withdrawal in the 4th century, it was gradually buried and excavated in the 18th century. Today, it is a World Heritage Site and a landmark of Bath.

A very historical town. The car shuttled through the streets and alleys of Bath, and it turned out that this is the hometown of "Jane Austen", the female writer who wrote "Pride and Prejudice". Simple, beautiful, leisurely, peaceful, elegant and quiet. It can only be said that it is difficult to describe its beauty. very nice. There are many tourists, but it is very orderly. The air is also very good. It felt nice to take a quiet walk.

In the busy modern life, it is undoubtedly a luxury to occasionally take a break to go to a place where one can find peace of mind. Stourhead is such a place, which provides me with an unforgettable travel experience with its rich historical heritage and beautiful natural scenery. The architecture of Stourhead is undoubtedly one of its most attractive highlights. The magnificent Palladian buildings, with their symmetrical layout and exquisite details, make people admire them. Walking among these buildings, it seems to travel back to the 18th century, an era full of art and culture. The gardens in Stourhead are a peaceful oasis. The carefully designed garden landscape, including fountains, sculptures and neatly trimmed shrubs, makes every step like exploring a carefully arranged maze. Here, I found a kind of tranquility to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, and every deep breath is like absorbing the essence of history. Stourhead is not only a collection of buildings and gardens, but also a treasure house of art and culture. Here, you can enjoy a variety of sculptures and paintings, each of which tells a story, allowing people to appreciate it while feeling the weight of history. Stourhead also offers many family-friendly activities, such as children's adventure activities and seasonal events, which make Stourhead a destination suitable for tourists of all ages. Dining Experience: In Stourhead, you can also enjoy delicious dining. Whether it is a formal lunch in a fine restaurant or a relaxing afternoon tea in the garden, it is an unforgettable experience. Overall, Stourhead is a place that makes people linger. It not only offers beautiful natural scenery and historical buildings, but also provides rich cultural experiences and family activities. If you are looking for a place where you can relax and gain knowledge at the same time, Stourhead is definitely a choice not to be missed. I hope this review can help you understand the charm of Stourhead and inspire you to experience this beautiful place in person.

Bath's most famous attraction is also one of the most magnificent Georgian buildings in the UK. The Crescent Building is a group of 30 connected houses. It looks like a crescent moon from the distant mountains, and it echoes the circus, which represents the sun. There is a lawn for tourists and local residents to rest and play. House No. 1 is a museum (don't go if you don't want to go), two houses in the middle have been converted into hotels (very expensive), and the rest are private property. It's very beautiful when the sun is full~

I enjoyed a day at Thermea! It’s true … this is not a quiet spa! But we didn’t mind that as we like to chat as well. At other spas we’ve been to there is little or quiet chatter and people are often asked to stay quiet. At Thermea guests can get pretty loud in the hot springs or by the fire. We enjoyed a couple of sessions, like stretching and concentration. We really loved how these were offered to us. There is one steam room available for use and the other one is for an extra co

Getting from London to Windsor by bus (702 green line) is very convenient, even without taking the train. Photography is prohibited inside the church and castle. Seeing Queen Mary's Toy House reminded me of the inspiration for many miniature landscape designs in China. I personally think it's well worth a visit. Buying tickets is also very convenient. If you want to see the Changing of the Guard ceremony, enter the castle around 1 PM to find a good spot.
