Japanese Garden

Japanese Garden

4.3
The Japanese Garden was established in 1913 as part of the centennial exhibition at that time. It was initiated by the Austro-German nobleman Fritz von Hochberg, who invited Japanese gardeners to participate in its design. The garden's design incorporates typical elements of a Japanese garden: ponds, flowing water, wooden bridges, stone lanterns, and viewing pavilions. These elements, together with the surrounding natural environment, create a harmonious scene. The garden features a wide variety of plants, including species native to Asia, particularly Japan, as well as numerous woody plants. The ponds are home to koi, which swim in the sunlight and often cause visitors to pause and admire them. The garden features waterfall-style water features, divided into two waterfalls with different water flows, known as the female waterfall (Onna-daki) and the male waterfall (Otoko-daki). They are connected to paths and bridges, offering a dual experience for both sight and sound.Wroclaw · 2.8km from downtown

What travellers say about Wroclaw

I took a walk alongside the River Odra which flows through the city and visited the Tumski Bridge, which connects the two parts of the city (the part governed by the church and the part governed by civil authority). Over the past few years, the bridge has become a staple of the city with tons of tourists visiting to put padlocks on the bridge and throw the keys into the Odra as a sign of their love, so romantic ay!
