Huitengxile, meaning "cold plateau" in Mongolian. The grassland is located inYinshanNorthern foothills. The grassland is dotted with 99 natural lakes, earning it the nickname "Ninety-nine springs." It combines the vast, majestic style of pastoral grasslands with the bright, delicate hues of southern Chinese water towns. Huitengxile Grassland has cold winters and cool summers, making it a renowned summer retreat since ancient times. The tourist season here runs from May to September, when the land is carpeted with flowers, and it is one of the few highland wetlands in the country. Locals believe the lakes on the grassland mostly formed from underground springs, hence they often refer to lakes as springs. This area was a prehistoric volcanic belt, where eruptions created countless "volcanic craters." Over the years, these craters became overgrown with wild grass and filled with rainwater, forming circular lakes. Legend has it that Genghis Khan, the proud son of heaven, once reined his horse at the "Ninety-nine Springs," admiring the scenic beauty. However, as the springs fell short of a hundred, he reluctantly departed, and thus the Yuan Empire never established its capital here. Legend has it that these 99 lakes never diminish or dry up during droughts,Tianlao LakeThe water neither rises nor overflows, calm as a mirror. The Ninety-nine Springs nourish and moisten like a mother's milk.HuiThe vibrant life of Tengeri. With its green mountains and clear waters, the attraction is divided into two main areas, Shencong Valley and Huanghua Beach, featuring 15 breathtaking views. Here, you can ride horses and camels, practice archery and shooting, watch Mongolian wrestling performances, climb the aobao mountain, visit local herders' homes, taste ethnic dairy products and milk tea, enjoy hand-grabbed mutton, and drink kumis... The Badaling Great Wall is renowned as one of the Nine Strategic Passes under heaven, combining majestic cliffs with picturesque greenery to form the most spectacular section of the Ming Dynasty fortifications. Living up to the Chinese saying "He who has never been to the Great Wall is not a true hero," this remains the premier choice for most Chinese visitors to experience the Wall. The fortress gate exhibits a trapezoidal shape, narrower on the east and wider on the west, featuring two gate towers. The eastern arch bears the inscription "Juyong Waizhen" (Frontier Town of Juyong), while the western gate displays "Beimen Suoyue" (Key to the Northern Gate). North of the fortress stretches the 12-tower Northern Wall section, while to the south lies the less crowded Southern Wall with 7 watchtowers. If time permits, we recommend exploring the Southern Wall first before tackling the more popular Northern section. ▲Walk Through Six Centuries of Golden History: A Visual Feast of Vermilion Foliage Blanketing the Great Wall ▲ As night descends, the Badaling Great Wall transforms into a gilded dragon winding through shadowed peaks, its illuminated battlements whispering tales of millennia - where imperial splendor meets enduring mystery beneath constellations of golden light. ▲Cloaked in winter's crystalline mantle, the Badaling Great Wall becomes a silver serpent coiled between snow-draped peaks, its ancient stones gilded by dawn's golden raysChina · Beijing

Ih Juu Temple in downtown Hohhot was built in the 8th year of the Ming Emperor Wanli (1580) by Altan Khan, the leader of the Mongolian Tümed. The temple belongs to the Gelug (or Yellow) School of Tibetan Buddhism. Priceless cultural relics not to be missed on a visit to Ih Juu Temple include a silver statue of the Buddha Sakyamuni, the dragon columns and the colorful wall murals. The pure silver statue of the Buddha Sakyamuni in the temple's main hall weighs 1,500kg. Immediately in front of the Buddha Sakyamuni are two golden dragons entwined around the columns, aptly named the Dragon Columns. Because the murals were painted with mineral-based colors, the colors remain bright and vibrant even today. The murals' content is mostly classical stories from Buddhist scripture.Hohhot · 77.7km from Zhuozi

Ulanqab Grassland is located in the central part of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, bordering Hebei Province in the east, Xilin Gol League in the northeast, Shanxi Province in the south, the capital city of Hohhot in the southwest, Baotou in the northwest, and Mongolia in the north, with a total area of 54,000 square kilometers. Ulanqab means "red cliff" in Mongolian. It is located in the temperate zone and has a continental monsoon climate with distinct four seasons. The terrain consists of four parts from north to south: the Mongolian Plateau, Ulanqab Hills, Yinshan Mountains, and Loess Hills. The Daqing Mountain, a branch of the Yinshan Mountains, and the Huitengliang stretch across the middle, while the branches of the Manhan Mountain, Matou Mountain, and Sumu Mountain are winding and tortuously distributed in the southeast of the territory. It is customary to call the part south of the Daqing Mountain the front mountain area, which is relatively warm and has more rainfall; the part north of the Daqing Mountain is called the back mountain area, which has a special windy climate. Chi Lechuan, under the Yinshan Mountains, the sky is like a dome, covering the four fields. The sky is vast, the fields are vast, and the wind blows the grass low to reveal cattle and sheep. This is the true portrayal of the Ulanqab grassland. There are alpine meadow grasslands with green grass and colorful flowers. The beautiful and rich Ulanqab grassland is the eastern gate of western China and the back garden of the capital Beijing. When you come here, you can experience the rich ethnic culture of the grassland, unique natural scenery and rich historical sites. In this colorful and legendary place outside the Great Wall, the "six wonders" of grassland, historical sites, sacred springs, lakes, forests and folk customs constitute a unique tourist attraction, which is a huge temptation for people who have lived in modern cities for a long time.Qahar Right Middle Banner · 29.4km from Zhuozi

This is the most stunning grassland I've ever been to in Hohhot. Being able to drive there and stop whenever you want is amazing! I loved it. There are so many great photos to take. I spent four hours there and still felt it wasn't enough.

The package deal was quite reasonable. We bought the Nanshan Route 1 ticket, but Route 1 includes the zoo, which requires going down the mountain to transfer to Route 2 to go up again, meaning we had to climb the mountain once more or take a ride on a tarpaulin, so we didn't go. The wind was best on the mountain, and the cosmos flowers around the cable car station were beautiful! The high-altitude swing, the thrilling "Step by Step" ride, and the rainbow slide were all very exciting! The middle school students had a great time! A single ride takes about 2 hours.

Shengshuiliang Jiulong Bay truly hides a treasure trove of autumn scenery in Inner Mongolia. On a clear day, the blue sky and white clouds against the backdrop of the mountains and fields are exceptionally soothing. Taking the cable car to the summit, the view opens up dramatically upon exiting. The trails are flanked by vast birch forests on one side and robust coniferous forests on the other, creating a rich tapestry of colors that makes for beautiful photos from every angle. The mountaintop meadow stretches out expansively, where you can see camels and horses leisurely grazing. The colors of the forest unfold along the mountainside, offering a vast and expansive vista. Driving here, the scenery is breathtaking, making it perfect for those who love mountain landscapes, allowing you to immerse yourself in the unique tranquility and vastness of the autumn mountains.

The meeting at the Aobao and the acrobatic performance were both excellent. What's the meaning of the little train and the animal-drawn cart? The shuttle bus down to the bottom of the valley was a great experience, a rapid descent, like riding a roller coaster. As for the cable car up the mountain, I'm afraid of heights, so I won't comment. The scenery was beautiful, with panoramic views of the grasslands, rolling mountains, strange willows and birch forests, and babbling brooks. Prices at the bottom of the valley were reasonable. Excellent value for money. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Free milk tea was provided.

In mid-October, the Huitengxile Grassland was ablaze with yellow grass, the wind was strong, and tourists were few, lending the landscape a sense of vastness and tranquility. We chartered a car to enter the grassland, our first stop being the Niubaba Scenic Area. Without the hustle and bustle of peak season, the grassland revealed its true nature. Driving along the Windmill Avenue, huge white windmills lined the road, turning slowly in the wind, creating a picturesque scene against the golden grassland. The white yurts stood out against the backdrop of the grassland; the nearby lake was serene, with withered grass swaying on the banks, adding a unique autumnal charm. Along the way, we also saw vast golden pine forests, sunlight filtering through the branches and casting dappled shadows; herds of cattle and sheep grazed peacefully. Though the wind was strong, it couldn't dispel the vastness and serenity. Late autumn in Huitengxile, while lacking the lush green of summer, offered a truly pure grassland experience with its golden hues, open spaces, and free-flowing winds.

[Scenery] It was already September when I went there, and a lot of grass had turned yellow. Plus it was cloudy, so the photos might not be very good. [Fun] Many facilities were damaged, and there were camel rides for taking photos in the scenic area. [Value for money] I thought it was free, but in fact, the road for private cars to go up the mountain in the scenic area was closed. There was a sign saying that for safety reasons, private cars and tourists were not allowed to go up the mountain alone. If you want to go up the mountain, you must spend 30 yuan to buy a round-trip sightseeing ticket.

Very beautiful, but too crowded in my personal taste. We chose this part of the wall bcz we had limited time. Overall it was amazing to see, if I'll have opportunity to come back to China I'll choose other less crowded parts of the wall.

It was alright. I dreamt about it, it was really amazing. When I got there, it was exactly the same as in my dream! Many things like this happen! Everything corresponds perfectly. I really like Shanxi! I went to Wutai Mountain before and didn't even realize I was in Shanxi, haha. Amazing! Then I went to Taiyuan, and still didn't know I was in Shanxi. This time, after going to Datong, I finally remembered it was Shanxi.

"The most unforgettable stop in Hohhot is Dazhao Temple. The saying 'First came Dazhao, then came Qingcheng' is not just for show. As soon as you enter the mountain gate, the red walls and golden roofs, the copper bells on the eaves, and the faint scent of Tibetan incense immediately calm you down from the hustle and bustle of the old city."
