  "Xi'an Banpo Museum, located on the east bank of the Luohe River in the eastern suburbs of Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province, north of Banpo Village. Banpo site was discovered in spring 1953 and officially opened to the public in 1958. Banpo Museum is a national-level museum, China's first prehistoric site museum, and the first batch of key national cultural relics protection units."

  Highlights: The Banpo Museum was built on the Banpo archaeological site located just east of Xi’an in the Yellow River Valley. The Banpo archaeological site has some 6,000 years of history, holding the remains of Neolithic settlements. Banpo is considered to have been a matriarchal society. Inside the Banpo Museum visitors can discover scenes reproducing daily life of ancient tribes. You can also learn about their unique system of entombment and their painted pottery. In one of the museum’s exhibition rooms, you can even see a replica of the famous “human-faced fish” pottery bowl. (The original is in the National Museum of China).
