Highlights: At the foot of the Prey Mountain in the Phoenix Mountain Scenic Area, by the riverside of Dengjiadang, there is a tall red bean tree. Its green leaves are dense and lush, and its trunk is tall and straight. The tree is 19.5 meters high, with a root circumference of 120 cm and a diameter of 19.1 cm. According to legend, this tree was planted by Prince Zhaoming, the eldest son of Xiao Yan, Emperor Wu of the Liang Dynasty in the Southern Dynasty (502-549), and was later transplanted here by Xu Ke, the imperial censor of the Ming Dynasty. The old tree has a history of more than 1500 years. The red bean tree is a rare and famous tree, generally blooming in spring, butterfly-shaped corolla, white or light red, panicle. When flowering, it is not full of trees, but branches in four directions: east, west, south, and north, respectively, and only one direction a year. After liberation, the red bean tree bloomed only three times: in 1949, 1956 and 1963.
