The Bahrain National Museum is the largest and oldest public museum in Bahrain. Located in Manama, the $30 million museum complex was inaugurated on December 15, 1988 by Bahrain's Emir Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, covering an area of 27,800 square meters. It is considered the first modern museum in the region.
The museum houses ancient Bahrain archaeological artifacts acquired since 1988, covering approximately 5,000 years of Bahrain's history. The complex includes three halls dedicated to archaeology and Dilmun civilization, and two other halls depict Bahrain's culture and lifestyle in the pre-industrial period of modern times.
