Cesme Castle is the landmark of Cesme. Built in the early 16th century, it is a typical Ottoman building. The castle was destroyed in the Battle of Cesme between the Ottoman Empire and Russia in 1770. Today, there is a museum in the castle, which displays artifacts excavated from the Ildırı village in Cesme.
Standing on the top of the castle, you can overlook the magnificent view of the town and the sea. Inside the castle, the tour guide tells you in detail about the changes in Turkish history, and you can feel the former glory of the Ottoman Empire.
