Shenyang and the Forbidden City in Beijing are considered the only two imperial city complexes in China. Shenyang looks like a mini version, or rather, a youthful mini version. Some of the content is off-topic, but it's enough to spend a morning exploring.
I visited the Shenyang Imperial Palace once before, just browsing around on my own. It wasn't a long trip, and I felt I didn't understand much. This time, I specifically chose to visit Shenyang last weekend and booked a guided tour on Ctrip, also including Zhang Xueliang's Former Residence and the Governor's Mansion, which I hadn't visited before. The guided tour was very helpful. It provided detailed information on the history and background of the Imperial Palace, the Governor's Mansion, and the Governor's Mansion, as well as the architectural styles and functions, and introductions to relevant historical figures, interspersed with anecdotes. The guide was a young woman, but she was very professional and enthusiastic. Saturday was incredibly crowded, even the guide was puzzled. The Imperial Palace and the Governor's Mansion aren't very large, and the crowds made many places very cramped, especially the indoor areas. It was practically shoulder-to-shoulder, making it difficult to even get a quick look around, which significantly impacted the experience. Overall, the Imperial Palace and the Governor's Mansion are definitely worth visiting, and you don't need much time; you can see them all in less than half a day. The Governor's Mansion felt more like an exhibition hall and wasn't very good value for money.

The former residence of Zhang Xueliang in Shenyang, also known as the Zhang Family Mansion, is a tourist destination brimming with historical charm and cultural allure. Stepping into the former residence, located at No. 46, Shaoshuaifu Lane, Chaoyang Street, Shenhe District, Shenyang City, is like entering a time tunnel, where the vicissitudes of a century unfold. The various "brothels" (or "brothels") each possess unique architectural features, writing a legendary chapter in history. The guided tour at "Buwan" in the park was particularly excellent; its vivid explanations gave us a new understanding of this history, making for a very good tourist experience.
This scenic spot boasts a spacious layout and unique charm, making a stroll through it feel like stepping back in time and engaging in a dialogue with historical figures across time—a truly immersive experience. Here, you can not only visit the site of Zhang Zuolin's death and directly feel the weight of history, but also gain a clear understanding of the true appearance of his "outer residence"—next to the residence of Miss Zhao Si, vividly showcasing the interpersonal relationships and daily life during the Republic of China era. The living areas of Zhang Zuolin and his family within the former residence are clearly divided, with separate residences for the first wife, second wife, etc., clearly reflecting the traditional etiquette of "distinguishing between legitimate and illegitimate children," and demonstrating that there was no situation of "favoring concubines over wives." The overall tour experience is rich and in-depth, offering both scenic views and historical knowledge, making it well worth a visit.

The royal gardens are indeed unique and very large; you can't see them all in one day. It's best to hire a guide who can tell you many stories you don't know and also provide a reasonable tour route.
Overall it's alright, but it's so bare in autumn, oh my god!

I went on October 25th, catching the Halloween night activities the weekend before Halloween, and had a lot of fun. I originally planned to write about my experience as soon as I got back, but I got busy and procrastinated, and before I knew it, half a month had passed since Halloween. Because my trip to Shenyang was short, I only planned to go to Fantawild. I bought a 159 RMB night ticket and entered the park at 3 PM, getting in after about ten minutes. You can take a free photo at the entrance, and pick it up opposite the visitor center when you leave. Small photos are free, but larger ones cost money. My original plan was just to explore the park and bring the kids next time, so I started wandering around. However, the park is quite large, with many branching paths, so after strolling around for a while, I downloaded the Fantawild app, which proved very helpful. I went on several rides, including Light of Life (a giant 3D movie), Liaozhai (a live performance with special effects), Mine Train (a roller coaster), Soaring Over the Horizon (similar to Soaring Over the Horizon), Conch Bay (an animated movie suitable for children), Dinosaur Crisis (an indoor ride-on movie), and Amazing Circus (a haunted house). If I had more time, I'd like to ride Soaring Over the Horizon and Mine Train again, especially the Mine Train, which is perfect for me – a thrill ride! 😁 Most of the haunted houses required wristbands, which was annoying. I didn't have one, so I just bought one, similar to the one at the North Loop. The Space Shuttle stopped running around 8 PM, and I rushed but missed it because of the 8:30 PM fireworks show. I also skipped Fire Meteor, since I'm not a roller coaster enthusiast; I've already gritted my teeth and ridden Hollywood Dream, Flying Dinosaur, and Decepticon… I'll save the Giant Swing for next time 🤣. Due to the Halloween activities and it being Saturday, it was quite crowded; most of the rides had a 30-50 minute wait. I felt the Halloween activities were even more fun than the attractions themselves, with lots of interactive NPCs along the main street. The interactivity was better than Universal Studios Osaka and Hokuroku, offering not only scary NPCs but also funny, cute, and beautifully posed figures that could playfully interact with visitors. I spent from 3 pm to almost 9 pm there, and Fantawild's fun exceeded my expectations. It seems I'll definitely come back during Halloween or some other pre-holiday event.
The amusement park is truly a fun place! From thrilling roller coasters to relaxing carousels, it offers something for everyone. The staff are friendly and welcoming, always smiling. The park is spotless, with every corner well-maintained. The dining options are plentiful and reasonably priced. Overall, it's a great place for a family outing and highly recommended!

A Majestic Pass: Echoes of History Between Mountains and Sea Standing beneath Shanhaiguan Pass, gazing up at the towering plaque proclaiming "The First Pass Under Heaven," the five characters, powerful and vigorous, seem to embody boundless strength. This pass, over six centuries old, awes the hearts of every visitor with its grandeur. Beneath the Yanshan Mountains to the north and connecting to the Bohai Sea to the south, Shanhaiguan derives its name from its unique geographical location. In the fourteenth year of the Hongwu reign of the Ming Dynasty, Xu Da, a founding hero, established a garrison here, leaving behind this crucial military stronghold along the Great Wall. Touching the mottled walls, one feels not only the cool bricks but also the warmth of time. These weathered marks seem to whisper tales of past battles, evoking images of thunderous drums and clashing swords on ancient battlefields. Ascending the watchtower, one can gaze far and wide. To the north, the Yanshan Mountains rise in layers, the Great Wall winding like a giant dragon across them; to the south, the Bohai Sea surges, the sea and sky merging into one. This fortified pass, once a vital strategic point controlling China's lifeline, has influenced the nation's destiny countless times over the millennia. It was here that Wu Sangui, the Ming Dynasty general defending the pass, surrendered to the Qing Dynasty, leading to its establishment; it was also here that in 1933, Chinese troops used the pass as a shield, firing the first shot of the Great Wall resistance against Japanese aggression. Heading south to Laolongtou, the Great Wall appears like a giant dragon entering the sea, its head poised to tumble in the waves. This sea-facing stone fortress was built under the supervision of the renowned anti-Japanese general Qi Jiguang, extending the Great Wall more than twenty meters into the sea. Standing atop Chenghai Tower, witnessing the romantic encounter between the Great Wall and the sea, one is deeply moved by the awe-inspiring grandeur and boundless spirit. Shanhaiguan is a testament to history, covered in its traces. It is not merely a pass, but a link connecting the past and the future. Touching every brick and tile of this guardian city, feeling the ancient warmth hidden in the cool stone crevices, one is instantly moved by the historical stories and legends of Shanhaiguan. As I left, the setting sun bathed Shanhaiguan in gold. This majestic pass, a witness to countless dynasties, still stands, silently guarding this land and its people. It has transformed from a frontier fortress into a beautiful scenic spot, but the resilience and wisdom of the Chinese nation it embodies continue to inspire us to remember history and cherish the present. My trip to Shanhaiguan allowed me to appreciate not only the magnificence of nature but also the weight of history. This fortress is deeply etched in my heart, an indelible memory.
There were too many people at Shanhaiguan during the National Day holiday. If Li Zicheng had so many people, he would have been able to defend Shanhaiguan. The problem is that there are too many people, and the experience is much worse. Parking is very difficult, and it is also difficult to move after entering. But the scenery at the seaside is still good, and you can play in the sand and water. Overall, it is still okay.

The Araya scenic area is excellent and highly recommended. Located in the Gold Coast Resort, it boasts a long coastline and beautiful beaches. Summer is the best time to visit. Since it's a closed-door area, safety is guaranteed.
Hidden beneath the coastal dunes, the Aranya Dune Art Museum is a work of land art in its own right. Its interior resembles a mysterious cave, with winding galleries connected by several light wells. Natural light pours in, blending with the sea breeze and the sound of waves to become part of the exhibition. Experiencing contemporary art here and experiencing the ingenious fusion of man-made and natural elements is a unique sensory experience.

Pigeon Nest Park is definitely worth a visit. The sunset is vibrant and colorful. The park has many photo spots, showing a lot of thought and effort. It's not crowded during the autumn/winter off-season, so dress warmly. My mom had a great time, which was wonderful.
Dove Nest, a place where beautiful birds gather, is a must-see for me every time I visit Beidaihe! Dove Nest in October offers pleasant weather, fresh air, and picturesque scenery, bringing to mind Chairman Mao's poem "Lang Tao Sha. Beidaihe": A thousand years have passed since the time of Wei Wu. A poem remains on the east side of Jieshi. The bleak autumn wind blows again, transforming the world...

The Liaoning Provincial Museum is a treasure trove, housing countless artifacts. From the jade pig-dragon of the Hongshan Culture to the tricolor arhats of the Liao Dynasty, from authentic calligraphy and paintings by Tang and Song Dynasty masters to the lustrous glazes of Ming and Qing Dynasty imperial porcelain, each piece holds the secrets of time. Strolling through the exhibition halls is like traveling through a thousand years: the warmth and smoothness of the Hongshan jade artifacts feel almost tangible, the colors of the Liao Dynasty murals remain vibrant, and the patterns on the bronzes are etched with the marks of civilization. Without traveling far, you can encounter the brilliance of Chinese culture within a small space; a whole day is not enough, and each visit reveals new discoveries.
Teacher Liu was very dedicated and responsible, and her lectures were engaging, informative, and not boring at all, with strong potential for further exploration! The three hours were packed with valuable information, without any unnecessary fluff! It's just a pity I didn't see any of my favorite paintings; I hope I'll have the opportunity to visit the Liaoning Provincial Museum again in the future.

For a town in the north, it's really nice. It's mainly about strolling and eating; there aren't many cultural attractions, but it's great for relaxing. It's crowded, but very clean. The complimentary hot water is a welcome touch. The iron flower performance is spectacular and worth seeing at least once.
About 30 minutes from Tangshan city centre, this wonderful ancientstyle water town has a lot to do. Night views are amazing. The boat cruise and the awesome live show are recommended. So many shops and different food stalls. You could easily spend a full day here but it's probably best to come once during the day and once at night. Can get VERY crowded on weekend nights. Overall, well with

As a frequent traveler, the only thing I recommend about Xianluo Island is the sea cable car. This suspended, non-enclosed gondola ride is incredibly thrilling, with the sea breeze caressing your face and the vast expanse of turquoise waters, making it well worth a try. However, Xianluo Island itself isn't worth exploring; it's a small area and the attractions are relatively old. The island's conch museum isn't particularly impressive, but there are plenty of parking lots nearby, making it relatively convenient.
The island is small, and the details are beautiful to be discovered. It's just crowded, so you can take a boat to get to the island faster. I didn't take any photos or videos when I got off the island. I could have found more places to take photos.
