The weather was exceptionally good on the day we went up the mountain; we saw a sea of clouds, the scenery was amazing! We entered the scenic area from the East Gate at 8:08 AM. Since it was the off-season, there were no queues. Our reserved time slot was 9:40 AM, but they let us in around 8:00 AM.
First, we took a sightseeing bus, then a cable car to the summit. We got off the cable car at 9:18 AM and started exploring. We first visited Mushroom Rock, skipping the Old Golden Summit and going straight to Red Cloud Golden Summit. The path up was very steep, requiring the use of both hands and feet; those with a fear of heights should proceed with caution. We finished our visit around 2:00 PM and left the scenic area, having spent a total of 6 hours.
It's said that two-thirds of the year is cloudy, but on a clear day, the sea of clouds is spectacular and definitely worth the climb!
After experiencing sunshine, rain, and overcast skies throughout the day, the core scenic area of Fanjingshan is not large, so it can feel quite crowded, especially during the descent. It's best to take the cable car early, otherwise you'll have to wait in long lines. I advise against coming during holidays, as while the mountain scenery has its own unique characteristics, it's not as beautiful as Huangshan or Huashan overall!

The scenic area is well-developed with excellent facilities and services. The scenery is absolutely beautiful, and the waterfalls are breathtaking. However, climbing the waterfalls can be challenging for the elderly, so it's best to buy escalator tickets and walk slowly. Don't rush; the scenery needs to be appreciated at your own pace. Bring plenty of water! The only downside is that you have to walk through a sales area to exit.
Even during the dry season, Huangguoshu Waterfall remains magnificent, and Tianxingqiao Scenic Area is truly a must-see. The Silver Chain Waterfall is incredibly photogenic, and we even saw flowers at the Water Curtain Cave! It was definitely worth the trip. Although the walking distance within the scenic area is long, the paths are quite easy to follow, making it effortless even with parents.

I have visited karst caves in many places, including Guangxi, Liaoning, Hunan, Hubei, Guizhou, Hebei, and Chongqing. The Zhijin Cave in Guizhou is the most breathtaking to me. Its landscape is magnificent, with unique shapes, graceful forms, and rare beauty. Wandering amidst the stunning karst scenery, I marvel at the Creator's favor upon Zhijin Cave. In my heart, Zhijin Cave is the "King of Karst Caves."
This cave would definitely be more fun if there weren't so many people.
This is the largest cave I've ever been to; everyone cheered when we finally saw the exit.

On my second visit, the commercial atmosphere was too strong. The entire town consisted mainly of food stalls and clothing rental shops. The scenery was beautiful, but the area within the paid scenic area wasn't very large. There's a large section of the ancient town outside the south gate, but once you leave through the south gate, you can't go back into the scenic area. Although the ticket price wasn't expensive, it was a bit of a shame that you couldn't explore the truly large area outside the south gate.
Qingyan Ancient Town was an important military stronghold during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Founded in the eleventh year of the Hongwu reign (1378), it boasts over 600 years of history and evolved from a mountainous military fortress. The streets and alleys are paved with stone, and the residences also feature stone walls, counters, and courtyards, showcasing Ming and Qing architectural styles. It's worth a stroll and a visit. You can try the local delicacies, such as tofu balls, ice jelly, and pig's feet. If you have time, be sure to climb the city walls.

Yelang Valley isn't a large scenic spot, but it's remarkable how meticulously crafted it is. I have great respect for the dedication and hard work of the veteran artisans who created these many adorable stone sculptures. The entrance fee is reasonable, the scenery is beautiful, and it's definitely worth a visit.

Wanfenglin is a must-see attraction. We entered the park around 4 PM before sunset, and the scenery was like a traditional Chinese ink painting. We looked at it again and again; its beauty is beyond words. The sightseeing bus was excellent; you could listen to the explanations while stopping at designated points to admire the scenery. It was a very pleasant experience.
"Of all the mountains in the world, only here do peaks form a forest," the traveler Xu Xiake's praise perfectly encapsulates the scenery of Wanfenglin. It integrates various geological relics such as caves, sinkholes, funnels, and underground rivers, making it a typical cone-shaped karst landform.
