Visiting the Dipterocarp Garden at the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden, Chinese Academy of Sciences March 21, 2025, 14:51. The weather was very pleasant during the visit to the Dipterocarp Garden at the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Dipterocarpaceae plants are mainly distributed in tropical Asia and are representative tree species of Southeast Asian tropical rainforests, comprising 15 genera and 580 species. The 13 species from 5 genera distributed in China are all listed as nationally protected rare and endangered plants. The Dipterocarp Garden covers an area of approximately 6.7 hectares and has collected and preserved all species from my country and some species distributed in Southeast Asia, making it a very valuable Dipterocarp Garden.
The botanical garden is a feast for the eyes, boasting a wide variety of plants and excellent landscaping, making it well worth a visit. The only downside is that the entrance fee plus the sightseeing bus fare is a bit pricey, and the bus stops within the park are not easy to find; I walked quite a bit. I recommend that anyone planning a trip plan their route in advance.

I opted for the entrance ticket plus rainforest elephant grazing package, and it was great. It included rainforest elephant grazing, giving me the opportunity to interact with Asian elephants. Although the time was a bit short, walking with elephants in the rainforest was a unique experience. The park management was excellent, and the staff were very friendly. The route was also very convenient; there's a direct tourist bus from Gaozhuang, and the tour guide on the bus was very helpful, explaining important information and there were no hidden costs. Thumbs up!
Wild Elephant Valley is definitely worth experiencing. It's home to Asian elephants, and you can even see a herd by cable car. There's also a high-altitude walkway offering panoramic views of the elephants. We went in the afternoon after watching the elephant shows, but we didn't see any! It was a pity, but it's still worth a visit. Asian elephants are truly intelligent.

Getting to the Dai Ethnic Garden is very convenient! At the Peacock Garden, enjoy the peacock dance performed by Dai girls, visit the White Pagoda Temple and Golden Pagoda Temple, see the Dai stilted houses, and try the lemongrass-grilled fish. Young people can participate in the water-splashing activities at the Water Splashing Square for a refreshing blessing.
Yunnan's hospitality is ingrained in its DNA. It's so beautiful and fun! We happened to catch the Water Splashing Festival, and joining everyone in the fun was incredibly enjoyable! Dai clothing and water splashing equipment are available for sale nearby, and there's also plenty of delicious food to enjoy! The Dai Park is quite large, with many Dai villages integrated into one. Be sure to plan your visit carefully, as you won't be able to visit many areas after closing time!

This group-buying package offers the best value for money online. Not only did we have a fantastic time, but it also included a rainforest meal. The air in the mountains was so fresh, the streams were crystal clear, and the scenery was breathtaking. Highly recommended! 👍
Friends, when you come to Xishuangbanna, don't just focus on the Starlight Night Market! I just hiked the newly opened rainforest trail in Jinuo Mountain last year. Six hours of hiking, and my phone's photo album was completely full! Wading through the clear stream in rain boots, you could pick up any stone in the water and smear it on your face. There are swings at the beginning and middle, but the ones in the rainforest are even more thrilling. Swinging across the water so close to the surface, your screams were swallowed by the rainforest! No need for filters in the photos! A special shout-out to our local Jinuo guide! A "walking encyclopedia": This flower spider used to make me jump three meters, but now I actually find it kind of cute; he even pulled out his own sour ants and urged us to eat them alive—they were so sour and addictive, and it was hilarious to see those who were too scared to try them grimacing at others! The last part was simply divine! Climbing up the natural stream, grabbing vines and stepping on stones, it was a real-life wilderness survival game, but the guide was there the whole time, making it super reassuring! Having a picnic at a rest stop along the way and listening to the tour leader tell ancient stories of the Jinuo people is a much better experience than just visiting tourist attractions!

This wildlife park is packed with interactive experiences and highly recommended for family trips. Almost all the animals are interactive; you can even pet the gentler ones like the Kapibala. You can feed the large carnivores, especially the bears near the entrance, for which there's a specially built viewing platform. The tigers are also available for feeding, and you can even take photos with the cubs up close. The only downside is the climb; the sightseeing bus only covers about 60% of the route…
I was still having fun teasing the birds and deer when a giraffe suddenly stretched its head out so enthusiastically that I fell on my backside. It probably thought my green shoulder-strap mascot was its food, not because it liked me that much. I was such a coward.

Sun River Forest Park is a great place for families with children. We hired a guide named Nanli, who gave an excellent tour, answered all our questions, and was very friendly. The kids loved her and were so happy to leave when it was time to go…
I took a taxi from downtown Pu'er, and after the park's shuttle bus, the actual walking distance was about 3 kilometers, which wasn't too tiring. If you want to interact with or feed any of the animals, such as white rhinos, sika deer, red pandas, or raccoons, it costs 20 yuan per animal, which isn't very cost-effective! The entertainment value is also just average! It's more suitable for children!

The 3-hour explanation was excellent, the timing was just right, and it wasn't tiring at all even with elderly people. I'm very grateful to Mr. Xiong Lin, the teacher who gave us the explanation; it was truly wonderful!
I went to the Yunnan Provincial Museum today, and Mr. Liu's explanation was excellent. His language was easy to understand, and he even pointed out small details about the artifacts. It was both easy to understand and interesting; I highly recommend everyone see him! If you enjoy guided tours, I think you should buy the 2.5-hour pass, because 2 hours is simply not enough.

Nighttime tickets are cheaper, but wait times are shorter than during the day, allowing for a wider range of attractions, and the Torch Festival is also lively. The park's design reflects strong ethnic characteristics and cultural heritage. Objectively speaking, annual passes are relatively inexpensive, and for families traveling with children, you can rent very affordable B&Bs (over 1,000 yuan per month, or under 100 yuan per day), perfect for both study and leisure activities. However, the planned location fails to fully leverage the unique character of Dianchi Lake. Due to its locational constraints, its food, living facilities, and transportation are inferior to those of the main urban area. For example, the local economy (Jinning District) may be problematic. The road between the main urban area and the park is unlit early in the evening, and the road is uneven in some areas.
Adults can bring their children to play, and both adults and children will have a lot of fun. It is impossible to play here in one day. The food inside is relatively expensive, so it is best to bring some food with you. Some areas may be slightly cheaper, but generally it is more expensive than outside. Don't buy raincoats outside, as the water activities inside are all free. When I left, I took a picture of the beautiful sunset, which was very photogenic. It's a pity that I didn't get to play many activities with my baby, but the older children didn't want to leave after having so much fun.

The park is small and has a vintage feel. It's very clean, and the security guards are very friendly and patient in answering questions. I suggest adding a toilet seat to the restrooms for the elderly.
Although it is not big, you can observe the animals up close. But I have to complain that the food there is too expensive. For 20 yuan, you only get a few carrots and a few cabbage leaves.

The scenery was beautiful, but since it's this season, most of the fruits were gone. Besides some papayas and jackfruits, there were very few others. However, it's still worth a visit for tourists from northern regions.
Xishuangbanna Tropical Flower Garden, a national AAAA-level tourist attraction, is a national science education base, a national patriotic education base, and also the germplasm resource nursery of the Yunnan Provincial Tropical Crops Research Institute. Currently open to the public are the following areas: Leaf Garden, Zhou Enlai Memorial Monument, Science and Technology Exhibition Hall, Tropical Palm Area, Five Trees and Six Gardens, Famous Trees and Celebrities Garden, Egg Garden, Tropical Fruit Germplasm Garden, and Waterfront Flower Area. Visitors can also experience rubber tapping demonstrations, Palm Planet forest trail off-road vehicles, and other related activities.
