The former German-style official residence, commonly known as the Governor's Building, is located in Shinan District, Qingdao, Shandong Province. Built in 1903, the 29th year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty, it served as the official residence of the German Governor-General of Jiaozhou Bay. It now houses the Qingdao German Governor's Building Museum.
The former German-style official residence is a typical German castle-style building, covering an area of 55,000 square meters, with a floor area of approximately 4,000 square meters. A hybrid brick, stone, steel, and wood structure, it stands over 30 meters tall and has four floors. As the highest representative of "German architectural art in China," the former German-style official residence is the first single building in China to do so. It is a masterpiece of architectural art that integrates diverse Eastern and Western cultural concepts and holds great historical value.
