📍Tianluokeng: A classic example of Fujian Hakka Tulou (earthen buildings)
The tulou cluster mainly consists of one square building, three round buildings, and one oval building, namely Buyunlou, Zhenchanglou, Ruiyunlou, Hechanglou, and Wenchanglou. Buyunlou is in the center, surrounded by the other four. Built according to the five elements (metal, wood, water, fire, earth) in a generating cycle, it is known as a "world architectural wonder."
We were lazy and didn't want to climb the 700 steps, so we just took photos at the upper and lower viewing platforms.
It was nice to see the small villages we passed along the way [grinning face].
📍Yuchanglou: Built in 1368, Yuchanglou is the oldest existing Hakka tulou. Its most distinctive feature is its pillars, which are leaning precariously, with a maximum tilt of 15°. Despite appearing to be on the verge of collapse, it has withstood 700 years of erosion and earthquakes.
The building has five floors and 269 rooms. The ground floor kitchen contains 22 wells, making it the tulou with the most wells in Fujian. 📍Taxia Village: An ancient village nestled in a mountain valley, with a babbling brook flowing through it, very tranquil.
📝Driving into the scenic area, parking is not a problem as it's not crowded outside of holidays.
