San Diego-Coronado Bridge
The San Diego-Coronado Bridge is a cross-sea bridge in the United States.
The bridge is located in San Diego, California, on the west coast of the United States, near the Mexican border. The bridge spans the San Diego Bay, connecting San Diego and Coronado Island, and is 2.12 miles long. Highway 75 passes through the bridge and intersects with Interstate 5 in San Diego. The 200-foot clearance in the middle of the bridge is enough for the tallest ships to pass.
The bridge cost $50 million and was started in February 1967. It was completed and opened to traffic on August 3, 1969, and quickly became a local landmark. Due to its unique bridge towers and graceful curves, the bridge won the Excellence Award from the American Institute of Steel Construction in 1970.
