Hida Kokubunji Temple is very small. Entering the mountain gate, there is a bell tower, a main hall, three-story pagodas on both sides, and a side courtyard. There are two exquisite Guanyin statues in the courtyard, which should preserve the style of the Nara period.
Hida Kokubunji Temple has a history of more than 500 years and is an important cultural relic of Japan.
Kokubunji Temple is only about 5 minutes' walk from Miyagawa Morning Market, Sannomiya Ancient Street, and Takayama Station.
Kokubunji Temple is famous for the 1,200-year-old ginkgo tree in the temple. In winter, the leaves of the ginkgo tree fall off, and it looks a bit vicissitudes of time. It should be very beautiful in autumn. The three-story pagoda in the temple is located near the center.

Hie Shrine, located in Takayama City, Gifu Prefecture, Japan, is a famous maple viewing spot in the area. It feels a little early to come to see the red leaves before October, but you can already see that the maple trees in the shrine have begun to turn red. Okuhida Onsen Village is composed of five hot spring villages, including Hirayu, Fukuchi, and Shinhotaka. The transportation is not particularly convenient and you need to take a bus from Takayama to get there. The whole hot spring village is very quiet and is especially suitable for visiting in winter. You should stay for at least 2-3 days, experience various hot spring hotels, and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the snow-capped mountains up close. It is definitely worth a visit.
There was no one on the streets of this quiet hot spring town, only various hot spring hotels of all sizes. The whole town was filled with the curling hot steam and sulfur smell of natural hot springs. So we went back to the hotel to soak in the hot springs.
