The following is a review of Baicheng Beach:
Pros
- Excellent Location: Located on Huandao South Road in Siming District, Xiamen, right next to the South Gate of Xiamen University, between Yanwu Bridge and Hulishan Fort, it offers convenient transportation and a wealth of surrounding amenities.
- Stunning Sunsets: In the evening, the sky often shimmers in a vibrant pink and purple, creating a truly romantic scene. As the sun gradually sets, its golden afterglow casts a dazzling golden glow across the sea, creating a stunning backdrop against the Yanwu Bridge, the Twin Towers, and other buildings, creating a breathtaking spectacle. Photos are also incredibly vivid.
- Rich Leisure and Entertainment: Play beach volleyball with friends or rent bicycles for a ride along the coastline. The beach is also the venue for the annual Sand Sculpture Competition, attracting many residents.
- Rich Cultural Heritage: The beach is dotted with giant mice, the semi-circular overpass resembles a giant clock, and the Baicheng ruins are carved with various abstract square patterns, blending beautiful scenery with a rich cultural heritage.
- Excellent Beach: Baicheng Sea is a popular bathing beach among Xiamen residents. The two large reefs near the shore have become a scenic spot, and suitable swimming spots are available at any time of day, regardless of tides.
Disadvantages
- Average Beach Quality: The sand is coarse in some areas, making it uncomfortable to walk barefoot. There are also broken shells and garbage. While the area near the water is relatively clean, the overall beach quality needs improvement.
- Overcrowding: Especially during holidays and peak tourist season, the beach is often overcrowded with tourists, making it difficult to capture aerial shots or enjoy a quiet beachfront experience.
- Heavy Commercialization: The beach is crowded with vendors who aggressively sell coconuts, sand-dredging tools, and photo services. Prices are inflated, and some seafood stalls even overcharge customers.
