I’ve actually been to Chongqing 1949 twice — the first time by myself, and the second time I brought my friend because I wanted him to experience it too. And somehow… I cried BOTH times. 😭 The funny thing is, my Chinese isn’t good enough to fully understand everything they were saying, but the performances, music, acting and atmosphere were so powerful that I still got emotional. Definitely recommend getting the translation device though, because it’ll help you understand the storyline properly and make the whole experience even better. It was honestly such an eye-opening experience and something very different from a normal stage performance. The scale of the production and the way everything moves around you is seriously impressive. Highly recommend choosing the rotating seats as well — it makes the entire show feel so much more immersive. If you’re visiting Chongqing, I genuinely think Chongqing 1949 is worth adding to your itinerary.
