days 2 nights in Sambo, Indonesia | Old town colonial architecture + ancient Chinese temple, 4-person small group relaxing tour

📅 Itinerary
Day1: Arrive at Sam Poo Long → Chinatown → Sam Poo Kong → Simpang Lima Night Market

· Afternoon: Arrive in Sampolong, Grab to check-in at the city center hotel

· Dusk: Tour the Sam Bao Temple, which is the oldest Chinese temple in Central Java, with statues of Zheng He, ancient caves, and feel the history of the Chinese in Nanyang. It is recommended to stay for 1.5 hours and walk slowly

· Night: Try local street food at the night market at Simpang Lima Plaza and feel the locals at night

Day2: In-depth tour of the old town of Kota Lama → Lawang Sewu of Thousand Gates → Blenduk Copper Roof Church

· Morning: Lawang Sewu, a Dutch colonial building, countless arches and promenades, a must-photograph landmark in Samolong, go early and few people take beautiful pictures

· Noon: Lumpia spring rolls in the old town

· Afternoon: Visit the Blenduk Dome Copper Church, European retro architecture, wall paintings around to take pictures, ride the rickshaw Becak around the old streets

· Evening: Stroll through the old town to watch the sunset

Day3: Gedong Songo Mountain Temple → Marina seaside → Leave with souvenirs

· Morning: Depart for Gedong Songo, a mountain of Hindu temple complex with cool air and distant views of the volcanoes in a completely different style from the ancient buildings of the city

· Noon: Sample local snack Wingko Babat Coconut Cake at the foot of the mountain market

· Afternoon: Breeze off by the Marina, then head back to town to buy souvenirs and prepare to leave

🏨 Accommodation recommendation
We traveled for 4 and chose a hotel near Simpang Lima in the city center and booked 2 double bedrooms.
Pros: Super convenient location, not far from the old town, Sanbao Temple, Grab is very cheap, hotel facilities are complete, with air conditioning and hot water, many restaurants and convenience stores nearby, safe to travel at night, suitable for small groups.

🍽️ Food recommendations
✅Lumpia Semarang spring rolls: local signature, pizza wrapped asparagus and shrimp meat, must try
✅Sate satay: barbecue skewers with rich peanut butter, street snacks cheap and delicious
✅Rendang Padang Beef: Slow stew with spices, soft meat, rich spices
✅Es Campur Assorted Fruit Ice: A must-order to cool down in hot weather

✅ Satay + Padang Beef Food Picture

📌Practical Tips

1. Transportation: Urban mobile with Grab, transparent prices, simple communication, old city can try rickshaw Becak, remember to bargain

2. Currency: Indonesian rupiah, market stalls accept cash only, large shopping mall restaurants can swipe cards

3. Etiquette: Wear long pants/long skirt when entering the temple, do not show your shoulders, and take off your shoes when entering
