For most Avanti West Coast journeys departing from London Euston, there are two daily Off-Peak time frames between Monday and Thursday.

The first begins immediately after the morning rush hour, with trains departing from Euston between 09:30 and 15:00 generally considered Off-Peak. Peak restrictions then return for the late afternoon through to the early evening, with the next Off-Peak window starting at 18:46 and running until 04:30 the following morning.

This means that trains departing London Euston between 04:30 and 09:29 and again from 15:01 to 18:45 on Monday to Thursday generally fall within Avanti’s Peak hours.

However, exact restrictions can vary by ticket and destination, so it’s best to check the specific terms of your ticket before booking.

Passengers travelling into London Euston face different restrictions from those departing from the station. For most Avanti West Coast trains into Euston, Off-Peak restrictions are based on the time your train arrives at the station rather than the time it leaves your departure station.

The main difference is for morning commuters, with trains arriving at Euston between 05:00 and 11:29 generally considered Peak services. The Off-Peak period begins at 11:30 and lasts for the rest of the day, with no afternoon Peak window listed on Avanti’s site.

Again, individual services may vary, so check the conditions of your ticket to confirm the terms of your journey.

Off-Peak restrictions are generally less extensive on Avanti West Coast services not involving London Euston, with Avanti stating that Off-Peak tickets “are generally outside of traditional rush hours”. However, unlike services to and from London Euston, Avanti does not publish a single set of Peak and Off-Peak times for other stations.

As such, Off-Peak times can vary depending on the route, station, and ticket, with no single time window applying across the entire network.

This means that journeys between Avanti destinations may have different restrictions depending on where you start and end your journey. Rather than relying on a general Off-Peak start time, Avanti recommends checking the specific service you plan to travel on.

Avanti West Coast weekend services offer much greater flexibility from Friday to Sunday, with almost all of its services considered Off-Peak throughout these days. This means that Peak restrictions applied at certain times on Monday to Thursday generally don’t apply on these days.

Almost all other Avanti West Coast trains are Off-Peak on Friday to Sunday, as well as on bank holidays.
