Ever since its opening in 2022, the Elizabeth Line has transformed travel across London and beyond, providing faster connections between East and West. But, as it's still so new and expands past the capital city, many people are still confused whether you can use an Oyster Card when travelling on the Elizabeth Line. Here’s everything you need to know about using an Elizabeth Line Oyster Card and what it means for your journey.

Can you use Oyster on the Elizabeth Line?
Yes, Oyster pay-as-you-go and valid Travelcards are accepted on most of the Elizabeth Line. However, there is a boundary—Oyster cannot be used west of West Drayton. If you’re heading towards Reading, Slough, or other stations west of West Drayton, you’ll need an alternative payment method.
Where can you use an Oyster Card on the Elizabeth Line?
Oyster Cards are valid between all Elizabeth Line stations from Abbey Wood and Shenfield to West Drayton.
Oyster Cards are not valid beyond West Drayton (even though it is technically outside of the London zones), meaning you cannot use Oyster to reach stations like Slough, Maidenhead, or Reading.

See below for a full list of stations that allow and disallow Oyster Card use.
If you're travelling beyond West Drayton, you must either:
- Use contactless payment (bank card, phone, or smartwatch).
- Buy a paper ticket for your journey.
Can I use my Oyster Card on the Elizabeth Line to Reading?
No, Oyster cards are not accepted on the Elizabeth Line to Reading. If you’re travelling between Reading and London, you’ll need to pay with contactless or buy a paper ticket in advance.
