When are Off-Peak Gatwick Express tickets valid?

Gatwick Express doesn't actually have off-peak fares. Instead, tickets are valid at all times of day, giving you the flexibility to travel on any train at a time that suits you. This doesn't mean that you can't save, though. Gatwick Express' partner train operator, Southern, often has SplitTicket discounts on this route and will still get you to the airport in around 30 minutes.

For example, instead of buying a ticket from London Victoria to Gatwick Airport, you could save by buying a ticket from Victoria to East Croydon and another from there to Gatwick. There's no changing trains, either. Best of all, this discount is automatically applied on Trip.com – simply enter your dates and it'll tell you if there's a SplitTicket discount available. It's that easy.

While Gatwick Express doesn't have off-peak tickets, for most other operators, it's usually defined as any time after 09:30 on weekdays, and all day on weekends and bank holidays. Sometimes, for trains that go from or via London, an evening peak time applies between 16:00 and 19:00 on Mondays to Fridays.

When are Super Off-Peak Gatwick Express tickets valid?

Super Off-Peak doesn't apply to Gatwick Express – you're free to travel on their trains at any time of day. Some other companies offer super off-peak fares. Generally, these tickets are valid between 10:00 and 15:30 on weekdays. Just keep in mind that each train operator is different, though, so it's always wise to check before booking. Luckily, this info is easy to find on Trip.com.

How to find Off-Peak Gatwick Express tickets

You can find some of the cheapest fares for Gatwick Express by using the Journey Finder on Trip.com. All you have to do is enter your departure station, arrival station, and travel dates into the search bar. You can then use the 'Cheapest' filter to see the lowest prices available. Keep an eye out for the blue savings label, too – this means you've scored a SplitTicket discount.

Don't forget – Gatwick Express doesn't have off-peak tickets. They use Anytime pricing instead, so you can travel on any train. The best way to get cheaper tickets is to book in advance, as prices usually go up the closer you get to your travel date. You can also save with SplitTickets on Southern trains, which is Gatwick Express’ partner operator.
