When are Off-Peak Transpennine Express tickets valid?

Transpennine Off-Peak times vary by routes and journey types, so it is always a good idea to check before you travel whether you could travel at a cheaper rate.

Generally, Off-Peak hours start at 09:30 from Monday to Friday in cities and large towns, and at 09:00 everywhere else. If your train is scheduled to depart after this time in the morning, you can usually travel with an Off-Peak ticket; you don’t need to do anything to get these prices, as they will be automatically applied to your purchase.

Evening restrictions may apply for certain routes during the week, while weekends and Bank Holidays are Off-Peak all day.

Off-Peak Day tickets can be Single, which means they are only valid for one journey on the specific date shown, or Off-Peak Day Return, which means you have to return before 4:29am on the day after your outward journey. There are also Off-Peak Return tickets, which allow return within 30 days, and Super Off-Peak tickets.
