Split ticketing is a technique where you buy two or more tickets for a single continuous journey, each covering individual parts of the journey, rather than buying a single ticket that covers the whole way. It's perfectly allowed and can save a chunk of money. (Don't try to save money by buying a ticket for a station before the one you're joining at, though - that's not permitted.)

The good news is that our Journey Planner will automatically offer split tickets if they are cheaper. Just input your journey, and we'll show you all the cheapest options instantly!

Fun things to do in London

Once you've made it into the capital, there is an inexhaustible supply of fun activities to enjoy. Whatever your tastes, you're sure to find something to interest you in London!

And if taste is what you're after, you could do worse than to visit Borough Market. Right in the centre, next to Southwark Cathedral, the traders will fit you up with everything you need to cook the most amazing gourmet meal - perfect if you're staying in self-catering accommodation. Thankfully, there is also a range of coffee shops and cafés that will do the cooking for you. London Bridge Tube station is nearby, and the Northern Line will take you straight there from Euston.

Staying on the Northern Line, and if all that food has inspired you to do some more shopping, then Oxford Street is the place to go. Arguably Europe's most famous shopping street, 300 shops line the busy A40 road, with another 200 or so shops and restaurants on neighbouring Regent Street. Highlights include the world-famous Selfridges department store and Hamley's - the world's oldest toy store. While you're there, try out the diagonal pedestrian crossing at Oxford Circus. It was installed several years ago to make crossing the major road junction easier and is definitely a rite of passage for London shoppers!

After all that shopping, perhaps it's time to take in a show? The area around Leicester Square and Covent Garden is home to London's West End theatres. The range of productions and experiences is unrivalled anywhere except Broadway, so you'll have no trouble finding something you want to see. The atmosphere inside the theatres is mostly the same as it has been for decades, so you're stepping into a piece of entertainment history.

There are plenty of restaurants nearby that offer pre- and post-theatre set menus. London has plenty of night buses to get you back to your accommodation, and some tube lines run all night on Fridays and Saturdays, too.
