Catholic church in Naze, Amami O Shima Island
Arriving at Naze Port, Amami Oshima, Ryukyu Islands, as part of our Maasdam cruise encircling Japan, we exited via taxi($5). 3 km south in the morning rush hour on this small island, we arrived at Cit...
It is very close to the arcade street. Please use it as a landmark as you can see the bell tower from a distance. It's open to entering the site and entering the church, so there's an atmosphere where you can stop by.
It is a magnificent church in proportion to the size of the population. For some reason, there is a marble altar where President Kennedy's funeral was held, and there is a bell that tells the history of Amami Catholic Passion called Anzelas' Bell. The bell is visible from the sidewalk, but there is no explanation plate. We recommend that you go to see the church website.
It is a Catholic Church ⛪ standing in the center of Naze city. The cathedral was also conspicuous in a large facility near the city hall. It seems that you can enter and exit the precincts freely, and I looked inside the cathedral as an outsider. Grace, the birthplace of the church was a little far away. By the way, I learned that it was written as "Sacred Heart" and read as "Mikoro" for the first time when the locals taught me.
