Anshun Yunfeng Tunbao Cultural Scenic Area is located south of Anshun urban area. It's comprised of eight fort-villages, including the Yunshan, Ben, Lei and Xiaoshan forts. It was the core area for stationing of southern invasion armies during the early Ming Dynasty. The eight villages are laid out in an orderly fashion, with appropriate density, capable of independent action as well as mutual support. It's a masterpiece military defensive system. The Yunshan Fort and Ben Fort, out of the eight forts, retains classic fort structure and local culture relatively well, and have been listed among national key cultural protection organizations. Yunshan Fort is a "famous village of Chinese historical culture," as designated by the Ministry of Construction and the State Administration of Cultural Heritage.
