In 1960, Mr. Tan Kah Kee, a famous patriotic overseas Chinese leader and member of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, proposed to build the Overseas Chinese History Museum of China in Beijing. It was completed in October 2014 and officially opened to the public in 2015. The Overseas Chinese History Museum of China adheres to the basic policy of serving overseas Chinese, serving the society, and serving the country, giving full play to its advantages of extensive connections at home and abroad, and making full use of the organizational network of the Overseas Chinese Museum Professional Committee of the China Museum Association to carry out extensive and in-depth cultural relics collection and protection work; hold exhibitions and exchange activities to publicize and display the development history and spiritual culture of overseas Chinese; combine Chinese and foreign cultural undertakings with cultural industries to provide rich cultural products and cultural services. At present, the Overseas Chinese History and Culture Exhibition is the basic exhibition of the Overseas Chinese Museum, which is divided into five parts: the history of Chinese immigrants overseas, the overseas life of overseas Chinese, the contributions made by overseas Chinese to the host country, overseas Chinese and China's development, and Chinese overseas affairs. It exhibits more than a thousand pieces (sets) of cultural relics and more than a thousand pictures. The exhibition combines historical traditions with modern concepts, and is presented through the combination of pictures and texts, scene restoration, artworks, multimedia and other display methods. In order to better integrate resources, expand influence, serve returned overseas Chinese and their families and overseas Chinese wholeheartedly, and actively publicize and display the excellent qualities of overseas Chinese who love their country, hometown and family, the museum will combine online and offline. On the basis of doing a good job in offline exhibitions, it will apply new technologies to build a VR online museum, output the overall style of the museum through 720-degree VR panoramic technology, display precious cultural relics and historical pictures, and realize "cloud viewing", so that audiences at home and abroad can visit the museum more safely and conveniently, and expand the influence of the Chinese Overseas Chinese History Museum.
