Situated in the Haidian District northwest of Beijing, the Summer Palace is a Unesco World Heritage site that used to be the palace and garden of the emperors of the Qing Dynasty. It is the largest and most well preserved royal park in China. Construction of the palace began in 1750 and it served as a residential and entertainment area for the royal members. The palace underwent two major reconstructions after suffering damages during invasions by the Anglo-French Allied Forces and the Eight-Power Allied Forces during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The palace grounds are stunning, with beautiful gardens, intricate pavilions, and the serene Kunming Lake. The Long Corridor, adorned with colorful paintings, was a highlight. The views from Longevity Hill were breathtaking. The site is well-preserved and offers a peaceful escape from the city.
Tips:Very busy but worth visiting. Be prepared for walking up and down many stairs. A lot of picture taking opportunities. Recommended and beautiful Summer Palace
The Summer Palace is a royal garden in the Qing Dynasty of China. It is located in the western suburbs of Beijing, 15 kilometers away from the city. This garden is based on Kunming Lake and Wanshou Mountain. It has learned the design techniques of Jiangnan gardens and is known as the "Royal Garden Museum". Its area is about 3.009 square kilometers, of which the water is about three-quarters, adjacent to the Yuanmingyuan. The architectural style of the Summer Palace is unique, integrating the essence of the royal garden, and every detail is exquisite. Very big place and beautiful scenery and flower( very recommend to go there on April so you can enjoy flower there too) with 30 RMB ADMISSION (. 60 RMB admission to all extra area ) what a pity I went on a cloudy day
It is a must-visit in Beijing. I went on a sunny warm day in early May. It was very full of locals as it was extended weekend of Labor Day. That made my visit a bit uncomfortable as they were thousands and thousands of people all around.Architecture of the Summer Palace is amazing and it is full of history.
Place had lot of pavilions, halls, gardens, bridges, Chinese traditional buildings with red walls & yellow roof. Recommended to come here. Beautiful palace
