Value for money, caught two large Barrumundi and a soot sausage (captured and released) seen by carnivores and platypus. Very quiet and peaceful place, nature is the best. With its unobstructed views and tranquil atmosphere, the Copollod Dam is well worth a visit. Easy to reach from Cairns, you can wander around the dam and enjoy the great river views.

Copper dam (or Lake Morris) is responsible for most of Cairns' water supply. So beautiful, at first glance you think it's a natural lake, but it's actually 100 man-made. If you book in advance, you can kayak. I've been here a few times and can gaze at the lake for hours. Usually I come up from the hiking trails of the Crystal Falls (Crystal Cascades) to spend some time relaxing and enjoying the panoramic view. You could have coffee for free in the self-service kiosk at the top, but I’m not sure they still offer this service.
