In 1508, the Ottoman Sultan Bayezid II built the castle, which fits all the characteristics of the Ottoman architecture. There is a museum inside the castle, and artifacts excavated from the village of Cesme Ildr are displayed in this museum. The historic building is also the venue for the Cesme International Music Festival (July 2-7 every year). In front of the castle is an Algerian Kaptan- Derya Gazi Hasan Pasha and a statue of a lion.
