based on 436 reviewsOrange Isle is a long and narrow island in the Xiang Jiang River. It is the world's longest inland river island and also one of Changsha's most famous attractions. The island has dense trees, a large orange garden, a huge Mao Zedong Statue, and other cultural galleries. During his youth days, Mao Zedong spent a lot of time walking along the beaches, sunbathing and swimming at the island. He even wrote a poem about the island. During major festivals, there will be fireworks display available here, treating visitors to a visual feast.

Show More ReviewsThis was my first trip to Changsha with my two children, and I noticed the cruise ship tours beforehand. Our accommodation was right next to the Liuyang River. After arriving, we strolled along the riverbank and immediately saw the cruise ship dock for the "Three Museums and One Hall" (referring to the three museums and one cultural center in Changsha). We decided to take a night cruise on the Xiangjiang River and visit Orange Isle. The ship had three decks and the facilities were quite good. The ticket office said boarding was 30 minutes in advance, but ticket verification only started 10 minutes before departure. Since it was the weekend, there were about 30 passengers, and queuing to board took some time, including having our tickets checked (by scanning the verification code). The riverside light show was dazzling and colorful. The young Mao Zedong statue on Orange Isle was particularly eye-catching, and many tourists followed it to take photos. There was a performance on the first deck and a live singing show on the top deck, both very loud. Personally, I felt it would have been better to quietly enjoy the night view. I suspect the performances were a major selling point. The entire trip lasted 80-90 minutes round trip.
