What travelers say:

An amazing enclosure indeed! All animals seem well taken care of, and the entire area is gorgeous and well planned out. The only downside is that some of the local people seem to not understand that these are the pandas homes, clapping and shouting at the pandas to get them to turn around or wake up. Extremely rude! I wonder how these people would feel if I entered their homes and did the same to them! The reason it loses a star though, is because the people at their shops told me they could deliver whatever we bought to our homes. So we bought a bunch of dolls and decided to have it sent to our home in Shenyang, rather than carry them around. One week later we are back home, and nothing arrived. when I followed up with them, they 'replied with a 'thank you for understanding, your items are on their way now'. We expressly asked them to send the stuff though immediately, and wanted to pay for them in advance. But they told me not to worry about it. So where're all the stuff we bought? Currently still at the store at the centre. I'd suggest to skip the first enclosure and move on to the next because there are always clusters of people at the first ones. Bring good walking shoes because the place is enormous!

Additional Information

Introduction

The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is located in the northern suburbs of Chengdu, about 10 kilometers away from downtown Chengdu. The facility is famous for the protection and breeding of endangered wild animals that are unique to China. It simulates the natural habitat of the giant pandas, and has lakes, streams, bamboo forests and lawns. The chance to come into close contact with the giant pandas is a highlight here. Visitors can have a close-up observation of the pandas' living conditions. There is also a "Panda Villa", which is a restricted area for the pandas to rest.

Helpful Information

1.The best timing to see the panda bears is before 9:30 in the morning, especially during the summer season because during noon time, the panda bears tend to retreat into their resting areas to cool down and sleep. 2. Please be aware that when you are near the breeding enclosure of the panda bears, you must not emit any loud/sharp sounds or make any unusual movements as this will unnecessarily agitate them. 3. You are not allowed to use flashlights during photo taking as the eyes of baby panda bears are particularly light sensitive.4. Do take note that you are not to feed the panda bears or to take away the bamboo shoots from their enclosure.5. The daily amount of food given to each individual bear is scheduled and planned.
