Xingkai Lake is on the Sino-Russian border about 40 kilometers (25 miles) southeast of Mishan City. It is a Sino-Russian border lake. Currently, one third of the waters are in the Russian territory. This freshwater lake is in the northeastern part of China. It was formed from a depression in the ground caused after the eruption of ancient volcanoes. Xingkai is Manchurian for "water flowing from a high place." The scenic spots include Dangbi Town, the Flood Gate, and Longwang Temple.
