Zhenguo Temple, located on the island on the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, is where the Tang Emperor Xizong's brother performed Zen meditation after he saw through the material world. After the master in the temple died, leaving Buddhist relics, the Emperor Xizong funded to reconstruct the temple and granted it the name "Zhenguo Zen Temple." He also built a white pagoda to enshrine the master's relics. Generations later, the original temple no longer exists except for the pagoda, which is an important antique treasure. The ancient towering pagoda stands on the island and looks even more beautiful in the sunset.
