Good place for a quick break and some local history.
Found by chance and went inside. Lovely historical building and the ladies provide tea and a small cake for just £1. You can read some of the history on the boards and short films are showing of Glouc...
We stopped for a coffee and cake. Then took a City tour at 11:00. Civic trust volunteers are very friendly and knowledgeable and will even let you ring the curfew bell :-)
The tower just in the heart of Gloucester, in the Gloucester cross, beautiful medieval building from Saxon times, sometimes it's open for cup of tea and cakes for the reasonable prices
Just a couple of sign boards inside, and you can pay a pound for a Nescafe instant coffee. They may also let you ring the bells (rope pull and two mallet ones). Some history print-outs for 0.50 each. ...
