Baoshi Liuxia

Baoshiliuxia is one of the ten scenic spots of the New West Lake. It was originally named Shilao Mountain and was once called Baochu Mountain, Baosuo Mountain and Shizeng Mountain. The mountain are full of wondrous stones, including the 'stone upon the clouds', the 'phoenix stone', and the 'falling star stone'. There are many sparkling red pebbles here. When the sun shines, these small stones glittery and shimmer, giving the the mountains an even more beautiful color. This is the original of Baoshiliuxia's Chinese name, meaning 'Precious Stone Hill Floating in the Rosy Clouds'. There are stone-carved statues on the cliffs of the mountains, and the three cliff statues in the west, although the remaining small shrines and Ming inscriptions on the western cliffs have almost eroded away.
