Kamppi Chapel

The Church of Silence is a wooden church. It is located on the south side of Narika Square in the center of Helsinki, and is also the entrance to the Combi Shopping Center. The main purpose of building this church is to provide a place for citizens to pray in peace and quiet. Stepping into the church, the interior is tall and empty, with warm sunlight projected from the wooden planks, touching the simple seats made of ash trees, and breathing fresh and pure air. , instantly let people enter the quiet area from the noisy shopping center, as if the body and mind can be peaceful. The church is one of the projects of the Design Capital in 2012. It was completed in 2015 and designed by artists KimmoLintula, NikoSirola and MikkoSummanen. A gigantic wooden barrel stands next to the Combi shopping centre, but it's this contrast that sets this church apart and has quickly become one of Helsinki's more popular attractions in the past two years.
