The Grand Buddha Temple is a nice landmark and well worth a visit, the tour group is a bit large, the first steps are lined with monks sitting on wooden statues of three elephants each side
nothing special. You can visit it if you have 2-3 hours of free time. The big black Buddha statue in Thailand has 2-3 small churches and lakes on its back. We spent 20 minutes there and 1.5 hours to Hua Hin City. On the way to the Buddha, I found that the Art Valley is even better-interesting souvenirs, many artworks and good coffee.
Well worth a visit if you are in the area. We made a spur of the moment decision to go out to the temple at about an hour before sunset and the place was pretty much deserted. Free to enter. Once you’ve climbed up to the temple go over the back of it and down the other side and you will see that there are lakes and further in the distance there is another giant golden Temple, and some lovely sunflower fields. Lovely place just to have a wander around. The whole area has a lovely tranquil feeling, certainly it did at the end of the day when we went.
Huay Mongkol Temple is a fantastic temple not far from my house. I have been here twice now. There is also a giant pond behind the statue where you can buy food to feed the catfish and to buy lucky fish to release into the pond.
Lovely temple. Quiet and very clean. Nice to release fish into the lake. No fishing allowed.
The fun of this temple is not very high, mainly a local people believe in a place, this big Buddha is different from what we see Buddha, he is more like a person, and we see the Buddha more like a Buddha image. Different cultures have different cultural differences, which is a kind of respect for the family's belief and tradition.
