Gushansi (Southwest Gate)

At the beginning of the first year of Zhengde in the Ming Dynasty (1506), buildings were successively built on Gushan. According to historical records, when walking up the steps along the southern slope of Gushan Mountain, there was a "Chuyun" stone workshop halfway up, with couplets engraved on both sides of the stone pillars: In this regard, the smoke waves of the left lily of the Yangtze River are now there, and it will be the absolute top of the West Lake. The title and couplets are all handwritten by the magistrate of Jingjiang in the 42nd year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1614). It can be seen that Jianyunfang has a history of nearly 400 years, and it is the earliest existing stone workshop in Jingjiang City. There is an inscription on a cliff at the foot of the square: "Yizi Bozhen, a Taoist from Sanzi, Hunan, prays for rain here in the summer of Bingxu, Jiajing", which is the summer of the year of Bingxu (1526) in Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty. commemorate. Not far to the east of Jianyunfang, about the Shrine of the Great Emperor, turn to the west and there is the Temple of Earth God, then turn to the west and then to the north is the Shanmen, the east of the gate is the Sanmao Zhenjun Temple, the high slope to the west of the gate is the Xianrentai, and there are ancient cypress clusters. Guanyin Temple. There is a heavy gate in the north, entering the heavy gate to the Dongyue Palace, which is the main hall of Gushan Temple. There are hundreds of Buddha statues in the hall, which are resplendent. Behind the temple, there is the "Bu Gu Pavilion" with raised cornices and carved beams. There is a "Wangjiang Tower" on the top of the back mountain. Climbing up the tower and overlooking the Chengjiang River, it is a hundred miles away. After hundreds of years of vicissitudes, the Gushan Temple has been destroyed except for the remaining relics of Jianyunfang. The couplets on both sides of Jianyunfang have long since been eroded away. The Lonely Mountain landscape has also changed a lot. In 1993, the Gushan Temple Fair was restored. For more than ten years, Gushan Temple has successively rebuilt Shanmen Hall, Guanyin Hall, Daxiong Hall, Sanbaolou and other facilities. The six-meter-tall white marble statue of Guanyin in the temple and the eight-meter-tall cast iron pharmacist Buddha statue are the largest Buddha statues of the same material in the surrounding area. Today, the lonely mountain leads to a secluded path, with bells in the morning and drums in the evening, and cigarettes are lingering. Every year on the third day of the third month of the lunar calendar, a temple fair is held in Gushan. Good men, believers and women from Jingjiang and Zhou neighboring counties and towns go to the mountain to pour incense, which is crowded with people.
