What travelers say:

According to the description of "Jingzhou Fu Shi", the temple of Jingzhou was the base of the government of Jingzhou, which was built by Guan Yu Chinju. It was designated as the four major Guan Guan Memorial Site along with the temple of Jingzhou, the imperial mausoleum of Guan Yang in Hubei Province, and the Luoyang Guanlin in Henan Province. Guan Yu is a good, righteous, Yuntian, wise and brave, his "loyal and benevolent" spirit, for the descendants of the Chinese Hainai Yan, is the essence of the five thousand years of Chinese civilization.

Additional Information

The Guandi Temple is located next to the south gate of Jingzhou Ancient City. The entire museum imitates the style of the original Guandi Temple including a gate, main temple and exhibition hall. When visitors step in to the area, they will be greeted by a tall archway on which are inscribed the three Chinese characters "关帝庙" which mean "Guandi Temple." There are status of Liu Bei, Guan Yu and Zhang Fei, depicting the moment in the Peach Garden when the three of them vowed to become brothers forever. In front of the temple there are two Gingko trees over 1,000 years old which have witnessed the temple's long and storied history.
