Shokokuji Temple is one of the Five Mountains in Kyoto, ranking second. (The Five Mountain Zen Temples in Kyoto are: Tenryu Temple, Xiangguo Temple, Kennin Temple, Tofuku Temple, and Manju Temple in Kyoto) Like Kinkakuji and Ginkakuji, it belongs to the Sokokuji sect of the Rinzai sect. However, as a national temple, Sokokuji is different from Kinkakuji. Ginkakuji is a tourist attraction and is open year-round. It is only open to the public in spring and autumn. And don’t think that Xiangguo Temple has nothing. The dry landscapes in Xiangguo Temple are really no worse than any temple in Kyoto, and the dragon paintings in Xiangguo Temple are really treasures that should be appreciated once in a lifetime. In addition, I went to Xiangguo Temple countless times in order to get the handwritten seal of the abbot of Xiangguo Temple. I finally got it. Thank you so much.
