Taman ini telah dirasmikan oleh Menteri Besar Kedah, Datuk Seri Syed Razak Syed Zain.Terdapat 2,500 ekor burung daripada 150 spesies, keindahan dan kehijauan langskap taman itu berjaya menarik ramai pelancong dalam dan luar negara terutama pada musim cuti persekolahan.Kira-kira 70 peratus burung yang ditempatkan di situ dibawa masuk dari luar negara termasuk Afrika, Amerika Selatan, Papua New Guinea, Belanda, Belgium dan Australia.
