"The Joy of Leshan Lies Within"
From Chengdu East Station to Leshan Station, departure at 9 AM; from Leshan Station to Chengdu East Station, return at 7 PM. The journey takes about 50 minutes, and the ticket price is 54 yuan.
City Transportation:
Taxis in Leshan are affordable, and taking a taxi can reach almost all the attractions.
One-Day Itinerary:
Leshan Station → Jiaxiang Road for Delicacies → Leshan Giant Buddha → Dongda Street for Delicacies → Hengdu Wharf → Shangzhongshun Commercial Street → Chengdu East Station (A clear route map is attached at the end)
Buddha Viewing Options:
80 yuan for a close-up view of the head, 70 yuan for a full-body view, and 0 yuan for a distant view.
For first-time visitors, it is recommended to climb the mountain for a close-up view. Take a taxi to Leshan Giant Buddha Parking Lot No. 6 or take a bus to Guicheng Mountain, and follow the signs to reach the north gate of the scenic area (this is the best choice for a short and direct route to the entrance).
It takes about 20 minutes from the north gate to the Buddha's head, where you can check in at the Buddha's head, ring the Buddha bell, and enjoy the magnificent view of the Minjiang River. From the head to the feet of the Buddha, it takes about 1-2 hours depending on the crowd during non-holidays. The entire tour takes about 2 hours.
Wuyou Temple is located at the south gate exit of the Giant Buddha. Hengdu Wharf is a niche check-in point, and the Buddha Viewing Tower is also located here.
"Food in Sichuan, Flavor in Leshan", delicacies are the highlight of the Leshan trip, with 12 kinds of delicacies tasted in one day!
Jiaxiang Road Delicacies:
Chuanmei Fancy Ice Powder - Signature Mother-in-law Ice Powder, rich in ingredients, excellent taste, very satisfying! Even packed one for the return trip.
Feng Sanniang's Beef Soup - Generous portion of beef, so delicious that you can't help but lift your feet. Blood curd is also highly recommended, super tender, and the chili aroma is overwhelming.
Ju Granny's Shaved Ice - Mango Pomelo Sago flavor, the ice is fine and dense, and the portion is generous.
Candied Haws - A street stall, made on the spot, the sugar is sweet and the strawberries are sweet, but it's a bit messy to eat.
Lei Siniang's Egg Cake - Cream and meat floss egg cake, slightly eggy, but the cream is good.
Ji Liuniang's Sweet Duck - Recommended by the driver, the taste is okay (not excluding the possibility of commission).
Dongda Street Delicacies:
Hua Sister's Chicken Feet - Sold at a small stall, both pepper and chopped chili flavors are good, but a bit spicy.
Ye Granny's Bamboo Chicken - An old shop in Leshan! The taste is superb! The red oil is fragrant but not spicy, and the price is affordable! 0.8 yuan per skewer!
Jiujiu Tofu Pudding - Salty tofu pudding, thick and dense, similar to the taste of spicy soup.
Zhao Duck's Sweet Duck - Different from Beijing roast duck, it is a shredded sweet duck, crispy skin and tender meat, sweet and delicious, very lovable.
Haihuiyuan Shaomai - Personally not a fan, but the shop is crowded.
Qian Dehua's Old Brand Glutinous Rice Cake - Soft and sweet brown sugar glutinous rice cake, really delicious!
Unfortunately, there was no time to taste the fried delicacies, but the regret leaves something to look forward to next time!
New Attractions:
Lingbao Tower: Standing on the Lingbao Peak of Lingyun Mountain in Leshan, it is one of the iconic buildings of Leshan.
Moruo Hall: Built to commemorate Guo Moruo, it showcases his life and literary achievements.

Wonderful place to visit. A world heritage site. The area we visit were the Leshan Giant Buddha, the Wuyou Temple which is situated on a small island and lastly the underground carvings of Buddha and various other carvings in the Oriental Buddhist Site.
The Buddha is worth visiting. The scenic area shuttle bus takes you to the entrance for free. The climbing intensity is not high. There is basically no queue to visit the Buddha in the off-season. The Buddha is still spectacular, the scenery is very good, and Leshan is also delicious, haha.
Whilst in Chengdu recently, we decided to visit the Leshan Giant Buddha (A UNESCO World Natural & Cultural Heritage Site).Glad we did because it was well worth the long drive from our down town Hotel. The Hotel concierge found us a regular taxi who we hired for the next day. After a little good humoured haggling we agreed on ¥800 (A$168) for the day.Leave early to beat the traffic and once out of the city it was a smooth drive on the motorway. Our driver dropped us off at the entrance and through WeChat, asked for a 20 minutes heads up when we were ready to be collected.I’ll not go into detail as there are plenty of Reviews and web sites on Leshan Giant Buddha, other than to say that the (slightly smaller 50m) Buddha inside the mountain was by far the more exciting sight. If you have an opportunity spend the day there. On the way back we stopped off at the largest building in the World …. The ‘New Century Global Centre’ in Chengdu. This is the world's largest building by square footage
Leshan Giant Buddha, located on the east bank of the Lijiang River in the south of Leshan City, Sichuan Province, is the world's largest cliff stone inscription statue, known as the World Cultural Heritage. Not only is it known for its grand scale and exquisite sculpting skills, it is also noted for its unique historical background and religious significance. The construction of Leshan Giant Buddha began in the first year of the Tang Dynasty (713), which lasted 90 years and was completed in the 19th year of Zhenyuan (803). It was initiated by Haitong Zen Master , aimed at slowing the rapid flow of water at the intersection of the Lijiang River, Qingyi River and Dadu River and protecting the safety of passing ships. The Big Buddha is a Maitreya Buddha sitting statue, 71 meters high, with a head and a mountain, sitting upright, serious face, hands placed on legs, the overall shape is solemn and majestic.
After coming in, it gives people a very fresh feeling. It is really spectacular in the earth palace. The Buddha statue is lifelike. Every portrayal is really special. It is worth coming here. It will never disappoint.
Super shocking, after watching, my heart has been purified, slowly walk slowly, and my mentality is much calmer.
Well, I went there during Dragon Boat Festival (it was in June this year), which is an official holiday in China, so, yes, it was crowdy. A river boat sail was sold out. A Buddha's lower part area /feet and legs/ was closed because of conservation works. Luckily, at the beginning, we decided to climb, so we saw amazing stuff before, like caves with even more impressive Buddha statues... as a non- fit middle aged women anxious about her health, I would still recommend you to climb- not to easy, a bit challenging, but definitely worth it...somehow, I felt I didn't see all what I wanted, but it is definitely worth to visit again.
Besides the big Buddha statue, Leshan scenic area also has countless notable attractions, such as: reclining Buddha statue, Lang Van mountain, O Vu pagoda.
