Went later in the day and came by Uber clipper to Greenwich and then took DLR to Pontoon Dock . It’s much further out of the city than I imagined . We were on the North side of the river in the Thames Barrier Park Unfortunately there are no facilities available at the moment and the visitors /information centre is in the south side ( also closed ) so we couldn’t actually get on the Barrier to visit Worth a trip out there under normal circumstances. Covid restrictions make it a little more challenging and my advice would be to go in the morning DLR from Pontoon Dock back to Bank is only 19mins

Highly recommend to anyone wanting to explore a beautiful natural habitat and the beautiful Autumnal colours. The Windmill Cafe by the car park has outdoor seating and is great for coffee, tea and homemade cakes or something more substantial after a walk!

Thames River flood control dam is the Thames River barrier, very impressive four central gates, five storeys high and weighing more than 3000 tons. When closed at high tide, the barrier protected more than 100 square kilometres of central London, with a good Thames Trail.
The Thames flood control dam is large-scale, novel design, unique concept, and has become the largest water conservancy project in the UK in the last century!
