【Cathedral Church of the Nativity】
Since the Chinese in the past called the church a temple, it was once called the Great Temple, and the place in front of it was also called the "Top of the Great Temple". Because it is located on a small slope and faces the South Bay, women in the old days often looked forward to the return of their husbands who went to sea, so it is also known as Wangren Temple. But now due to land reclamation in Nanwan, the coast can no longer be seen from the lobby. The name of Wangren Temple is no longer familiar to people.
It was built before 1576 as a small wooden building. After years of wind and rain erosion, it became dilapidated. In 1849, the Catholic Church gathered donations from the public and rebuilt it. Today's appearance and scale were built here. On February 14, 1850, Bishop Ma Da of the Catholic Diocese of Macau presided over the first consecration ceremony. During the Jiaxu Typhoon in 1874, the original two vaults on the top of the lobby were destroyed by typhoons and have not been repaired, resulting in today's flat-roof design. In 1937, the cathedral was rebuilt into a three-piece earthen building at a cost of NT$109,000, giving it the magnificent appearance it has today.

The Cathedral of Macau, also known as the "Lobby", is part of the historic center of Macau. It was once a must-visit place for successive Macau Governors to take office, symbolizing divine power. Over the past 400 years, it has been repaired and rebuilt many times through wind and rain. Today, the magnificent building was built in 1937 and has a history of nearly a hundred years. This is a three-column building with a gray exterior. The building is rich in Spanish religious colors. The exterior is calm, grand and elegant, and the interior is exquisitely decorated. There were many Catholic relics and monuments. The church can be divided into two parts, the center is the main body of the church, and you can feel the solemn and holy atmosphere when you enter it. At the entrance is a wooden Portuguese screen, and the plain walls are simply decorated. There are tall windows on the walls on both sides, and the windows are inlaid with stained glass rich in religious art. If it's a Sunday, you can go in and listen to Mass for a while. There is a small square in front of the church. The ground is covered with black and white Portuguese-style gravel. There is a characteristic small fountain in the square, which makes it an elegant and peaceful scenic spot. Another part of the church is the bell tower on the side. The big bell was made in England to commemorate the enthronement of King Peter V of Portugal. Nowadays, there are important masses, grand ceremonies, feasts, and weddings in Macau, and the bell will ring in the clock tower to remind the local people.
