The old postal building is the more prominent building in Puerta del Sol, a palace-style building in neoclassical style at the end of the 18th century. After completion, it was used as Madrid's central post office and army headquarters, and now it is the office of Madrid's relevant departments. This very old building in Puerta del Sol square is red and white and looks like a majestic palace. The clock tower in the middle of the building is very famous. Every New Year's Eve, Madrid people will gather here to celebrate the arrival of the new year by eating 12 grapes symbolizing good luck when the clock strikes 12 midnight. On the boulevard in front of the building is a well-known "Kilómetro Cero" sign, known as "Spain's Belly Button".
