The bell tower commemorates the visit to Mysore by the then Governor-General and Indian Governor Lord Duffling, designed by the French, with four giant pillars and also serves as a cultural venue for Dhashala. Huge rain trees on both sides of the bell tower also form shade, echoing the silver-bell tower opposite the town hall.
